Mesa AZ Dentist Views Banner Health Through The Eyes Of A Child Program Sponsorship

During the last 30 years of providing dental care throughout the Mesa community, the Robison Dental Group has continued to give back o the nonprofit health organizations serving local residents.

This month our staff gave recognition to one of the nonprofit organizations serving the Mesa community. After hearing so much about the programs Banner Health offers through our patients, many who are Banner Health employees, one just tugged at the hearts so much that our entire staff simply said “That’s The One”. It was unanimous. Charlotte, our Office Manger of 25 years, and the entire staff were so excited, the next thing I knew, there was a shopping list for gift bags and an assembly line in our lunchroom.

“Through The Eyes Of A Child” – A Cardon Children’s Medical Center Program Banner Health responded to the needs of our children who were unable to attend school during treatment. Six years ago, Banner Desert Hospital started a program for schooling and the transition back to school. In 2009 the school was relocated to the Cardon Children’s Medical Center, which now serves over 1000 children each year. The program is staffed and managed year round

The teachers at Cardon school act as advocates for each student, communicating with the child’s teachers and school officials .Having the knowledge and experience to know what each child is entitled to, “Through The Eyes Of A Child”.

The school provides a “Re-Entering” phase where a teacher or counselor will accompany the child back into the child’s home school or classroom to provide answers for the teacher and fellow classmates. This is a very emotionally sensitive process that requires the skills and experience of the Program Staff.

The hospital was designed to look and feel as close as possible to home. Each room is equipped with a dining table, small refrigerator, and bathroom. There is a convenient laundry facility available for parent’s personal use.

We want to thank Sue Eaton, MSW, CCLs and Senior Manager Child Life, for the tour and opportunity to be a part of this great organization, and most certainly, the banner employees who speak so highly of Banner Health

We are proud of Banner Health, and we know our gifts and money for our sponsorship is serving one of the best causes we all stand for, “giving back to the community and our precious children within it”.

Bupa Launches Series Of Cancer Support Booklets For Children

Bupa has launched a series of booklets to support children when someone close to them has cancer. The booklets are free and available to all and have been developed through consultation with children and the advice of specialists, including Bupa’s cancer experts.

Child psychologist Professor Tanya Byron has today said that more emotional support is needed for families dealing with cancer, highlighting the difficulty of helping children to understand the illness. She said: “When we as adults receive information that is devastating to deal with, it’s almost harder to tell our children than it is to hear it ourselves. But research has shown that by not talking at all, in order to avoid the painful truth, many parents may be causing excessive levels of anxiety for their children when there are simple steps to manage this.

“Up until now there has been little advice available to help with this problem, which is why these new booklets, available now, are such an important initiative.”

The series of four booklets, called ‘I Know Someone with Cancer’, are aimed at 7-11 year olds. They explain cancer and treatments in a simple and sensitive way, using language and visuals that children can relate to. They also offer children ideas for dealing with their feelings and helping their family in small ways, as well as activities to occupy them at home or at hospital. They can be read independently by the child or used as a guide for discussion.

The initiative is also supported by actor Stephen Mangan, who has been personally affected by cancer and has young children of his own.

Stephen Mangan said: “My family has been affected by cancer and I’ve seen how hard it is to talk about the illness with loved ones. Now I have two young children I have wondered what I would do in that situation. These booklets are a wonderful tool to help with a very difficult conversation, to help children understand what the adult with cancer is going through and how to cope with their feelings about it.”

Dr Katrina Herren, medical director, Bupa Health and Wellbeing, said: “It can be very confusing and frightening for a child to find out someone they love is ill with cancer. We have set out to create something that children can understand and read in their own time and share with their friends and family.”

Bupa’s dedicated Oncology Support Team takes over 10,000 calls per month from people with cancer and their relatives, who often seek advice on the many emotional, physical and practical difficulties associated with cancer.

Bupa has been providing expert cancer care for over 60 years, funding treatment for over 23,000 people per year and follow-ups and support for an additional 20,000 cancer survivors who have been treated for cancer in the past.

The ‘I Know Someone with Cancer’ series can downloaded from www.bupa.co.uk/iknowsomeonewithcancer.

1 800-GET-THIN Says New “Whistle Blower” Lawsuit A Fantasy And Sham

1 800 GET THIN has called a lawsuit filed against it a fantasy and lacking in credibility. The lawsuit, Meyle v. 1 800 GET THIN, was filed in LA Superior Court (BC486169) on Thursday, and charges that San Diego Ambulatory Surgery Center failed to properly sterilize its instruments on December 30 and 31 of 2011. However, Konrad Trope, the attorney for the surgery enter, said that Jessica Meyle, the plaintiff, sent an email on January 5, 2012 which acknowledged the instruments were, in fact, properly sterilized. The email from Jessica Meyle said: “…it [the sterilizer] passed!!!!:):):) Mejid is looking at the autoclave now. He says the problem may have been that we removed the Bowie Dicks too quickly. He recommends to crack the door & leave the tests in the autoclave for 20 minutes. Thank you, Jessica”.

Trope stated “this email conclusively proves that the plaintiffs filed a false claim with the court knowing full well that the sterilizer worked.” Trope added that “it is improper that the plaintiffs’ attorneys Alexander Robertson and John Walker filed this lawsuit without doing an appropriate investigation of this false allegation as required by law.”

Trope further stated that “the plaintiffs and their attorneys are looking for a fast buck with false allegations.”

1 800 GET THIN is a marketing firm and does not perform medical procedures. The plaintiffs’ attorneys Robertson and Walker recently dismissed 1 800 GET THIN from their prior “whistleblower” lawsuit. 1 800 GET THIN will challenge this lawsuit as well. Trope added that “the plaintiffs and their attorneys have gone ahead and filed false claims which will inevitably result in their suit being dismissed with the strong likelihood that they will face a lawsuit for malicious prosecution.”

Trope has challenged the plaintiffs to explain the contradiction between their claims, the emails, and the written records. The record of quality medical care and safety in San Diego Ambulatory Surgery Center is excellent.

Trope says he is deeply concerned about Jessica Meyle’s criminal history and credibility. “She has a conviction for Retail Theft in Pennsylvania in the case of Commonwealth v. Jessica Gordon (her maiden name), in case number CP-23-CR-0007812-2006.”

Still Growing: Comfort Medical Opens Retail Outlet

Comfort Medical Supply, LLC located in Ormond Beach, FL since 2005, has been ranked – despite economic pressures – has been ranked on the Inc 500 and Inc 5000 Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies in the U.S. for two years in a row and is now offering a retail outlet open to the public. The store is located in the Ormond Oaks Plaza in Ormond Beach at 619 S. Yonge St.

Comfort Medical Supply is a national supplier of home medical equipment and is accredited by the Healthcare Quality Association on Accreditation (HQAA). An approved Medicare supplier, Comfort supplies to all lower 48 states with 7 locations in the Southeast specializing in complex rehab power chairs, power mobility, drug-free pain therapy and orthotic support devices. Comfort was founded in 2005 and acquired Southeast Mobility Group, LLC in January 2007. The company has continued to grow despite the many obstacles the home medical equipment industry has endured over past years due to legislation affecting Medicare and health care.

Historically, the company ‘s revenues were derived almost exclusively from insurance coverage. However, due to reimbursement cuts in Medicare and other private insurance over the past 2 years, the company has ventured into the retail segment, where products often aren’t covered by insurance. “We recognized that to continue our growth, we had to offer additional products that are sold on a cash basis”, said Craig Daley, President & CEO. “Retail products such as home lifts, vehicle carriers, bathroom safety and daily aids to living are in high demand. When our customers receive a device that is covered by insurance, they soon discover that there a number of other items available that they also need to meet their living needs on a daily basis. Our retail segment is now available to meet those needs at competitive pricing.”

The retail store is open Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Special appointments are available by calling (386) 673-6902.
