Lower Eyelid Lift Increases in Popularity

The Hospital Group has reported that the number of women choosing to have a lower eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) has increased by 85% over the past 5 years.

The appearance of loose droopy skin under the eyes can be very ageing and give a“sad” look to your face. Sun and smoking can accelerate the signs of ageing, while others are more prone to inherit the condition.

Eye bag removal is a common and simple procedure which can deliver dramatic results, making the eye area look more youthful, attractive and alive. The procedure is becoming increasingly popular in men as well as women. The Hospital Group can help you achieve a more bright-eyed, wide awake look.

A spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “Over the years people’s lifestyles have changed and grown to be far more hectic. As a result of this people become have become heavily deprived of sleep. This, combined with ageing, create eye-bags which many of our patients deem “unsightly”.

The Hospital Group is one of the UK’s leading providers of Plastic Surgery, number one in Obesity Surgery and Breast Enlargement experts. So whatever your requirements, you’re in safe hands!

Breast Reduction Surgery on the Increase

The Hospital Group has reported that the number of women choosing to have a breast reduction has gone up by 78% since 2005.

The main reason for considering a breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty is that an over generous bust size can be distressing or uncomfortable.

Large breasts can often be the cause of significant physical discomfort and self-consciousness. Breast reduction surgery could significantly help to relieve the constant backache or shoulder pain associated with big breasts.

Regarding the reductions, a spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “We have seen a noticeable rise in women wanting to feel less self-conscious about their bodies. A lot of women with naturally large breasts are embarrassed because of their size and feel insecure as they can attract a lot of unwanted attention.”

The Hospital Group is one of the UK’s leading providers of Plastic Surgery, number one in Obesity Surgery and Breast Enlargement experts. So whatever your requirements, you’re in safe hands!

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has risen to become the UK’s biggest weight loss surgery providers, performing more gastric band procedures last year than the NHS.

IS Clinical Improperly Using Phytoceuticals Inc Proprietary Research To Sell Products With Proven Quality Issues

PhytoCeuticals, Inc., strongly cautions its customers that some claims being made by IS Clinical about their products improperly uses scientific publications, clinical trials and research that are the exclusive property of PhytoCeuticals, Inc. and its founder, Dr. Mostafa Omar.

Dr. Mostafa Omar, PhytoCeutical’s president, is the highly respected developer and manufacturer of proprietary skin care formulations and the inventor of Stable Liquid L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).

PhytoCeuticals has developed several formulations, including stabilized liquid L-Ascorbic Acid in 1994. The company had distributed these products through Cellex-C, SkinCeuticals and IS Clinical. PhytoCeuticals permitted these companies the use of these scientific publications, clinical trials and research citations to support the marketing of PhytoCeuticals formulations.

PhytoCeuticals terminated its relationship (July 1, 2008) with IS Clinical by Innovation Skincare (Science of Skincare Inc.). Therefore IS Clinical no longer distributes any products using PhytoCeuticals formulations.

In addition, these companies surrendered the rights to use this materials for advertising and publicity claims. The only legal use of these studies is to support the sale of products formulated or developed by Dr. Omar and PhytoCeuticals, Inc.

PhytoCeuticals continues to retain the ownership of all its proprietary formulations, as well as the scientific research, publications, patents and grants from National Cancer Institute (NCI) and National Institute of Health (NIH).

Since the termination of the business relationship, PhytoCeuticals has received numerous requests from customers who have purchased IS Clinical products, (which do not contain PhytoCeuticals formulations) to exchange these IS Clinical products for genuine PhytoCeuticals PHYTO-C products.

Dr. Omar has stated that, “The acceptance of exchanges of IS Clinical new products for PhytoCeuticals PHYTO-C products was initially a courtesy to patients who thought they were still purchasing our formulations. It is my ethical duty to help and treat these patients – which is more important then making a profit. But we must be fair.”

NEW POLICY

PhytoCeuticals is currently is unaware of any controlled clinical testing, stability testing or research undertaken by IS Clinical with respect to the products it has been selling since July 1, 2008.

Dr. Mostafa Omar stated, “Normally a clinical study and testing of a new formulation takes at least 5 years or more before a product is launched into the marketplace. To the extent that IS Clinical claims that it has undertaken extensive research in connection with its products, customers should confirm that the research cited is genuine and not proprietary research using authentic PhytoCeuticals formulations.”

The arrival of our men’s line is a natural evolution and we are thrilled to bring a product to market that’s long overdue.”

The lab coats feature a modern tailored fit, with finished inside seams and advanced fabric technology for unparalleled soil, stain, fluid and wrinkle resistance. While each style of Medelita Men’s lab coat is designed for a specific use, they are all available in contemporary menswear sizes 36-52.

The 44-inch Osler men’s lab coat is the modern version of the classic, full-length lab coat. Featuring five total pockets, including a concealed pocket for a PDA or Smartphone, the Osler lab coat is named after Sir William Osler, MD, CM, a Canadian physician, pathologist, educator, bibliophile, historian, and author, who is described as the Father of Modern Medicine.

The 40-inch Laennec lab coat is Medelita’s mid-length lab coat featuring abundant upgrades to this versatile physician lab coat. With a tailored, distinguished look and technically innovative features, this new men’s lab coat was named for René-Théophile-Hyacinthe Laennec, a French physician who invented the stethoscope in 1816, while working at the Hôpital Necker and pioneered its use in diagnosing various chest conditions.

The 30-inch Fleming lab coat is a hip-length lab coat, often called a “consultation” or “student” length lab coat. The Fleming is named after Sir Alexander Fleming, a Scottish biologist and pharmacologist who published many articles on bacteriology, immunology and chemotherapy. The Harley Medical Group Spills The Beans On Secret Surgery

The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider, reports that over 85% of cosmetic surgery patients hide their treatment from colleagues, while almost one in five will keep their surgery secret from their family.

A recent, voluntary survey of 1,000 patients (800 female and 200 male patients) revealed that 15% of women keep their surgery a secret from their families, 27% from friends and 78% from their colleagues. 22% of men keep their surgery a secret from their families, 52% from friends and 94% from colleagues.

Liz Dale, Director at The Harley Medical Group, said, “The majority of our patients are honest about their surgery – at least after they’ve had it done. Many patients will keep quiet in the lead up to their surgery and intend to keep it hidden but can’t help revealing their secret when it comes to the unveiling of their new stomach or boobs. However, celebrities are a different matter altogether and if they’ve decided to keep their plastic surgery, botox or other cosmetic treatments under wraps they really keep quiet, or even outright deny it. Many patients at The Harley Medical Group have fed back to say they have a lot more respect for celebrities who are honest about having cosmetic procedures.”

Angela Fry, who had breast augmentation at The Harley Medical Group, said, “After my fourth child my boobs were left shapeless and empty. Before the op I’d decided to only discuss the surgery with my husband and parents but when friends at my gym asked me how I’d regained my figure I felt I needed to share with them. I’m absolutely comfortable with the fact I had to give nature a helping hand.”

However, a male patient commented that while he had received laser hair removal to his back, he hadn’t told his friends or anyone at work. He admitted, “I worry that I’d lose some cred with my male associates if they knew I was having cosmetic treatments.”

Liz Dale concluded, “It’s not uncommon for people to keep it a secret before and during recovery then to spectacularly unveil their new look at a ‘reveal party’. Non-surgical treatments are much easier to keep a secret because they don’t leave such an obvious mark; however some patients do manage to keep their surgery hidden, from colleagues at least, explaining their absence from work on holidays or house renovations.”

Long Term Care Insurance Still Possible

There’s no ifs, ands or buts about it—senior citizens will need some kind of long term care at one point in their life, 75 percent to be exact. The problem, however, is that coverage can cost upwards of $70,000 a year, a sum many seniors don’t possess. Fortunately, a recently published article on InsuranceAgents.com reveals that there are ways to still obtain affordable long term care insurance.

Long term care consists of a wide array of health and support services such as personal care and assistance with all daily living activities. The cost of such services depends on many factors, particularly the type and amount of care needed, the healthcare provider and the area in which a person resides in.

The sooner a person obtains long term care insurance, however, the more affordable it will be. The article, “Long Term Care Insurance: How To Save Big,” suggests to senior citizens seven different ways they can save on long term care. Some of them include:

1. Obtaining health insurance quotes for long term care and comparing policies, rates and providers

2. Applicants should apply with a spouse, as many providers will offer a major discount for couples who seek coverage together.

3. While the cost is as low as it’s going to get, try to get as much coverage as possible—weigh benefits against cost and remember that maximum coverage will come in handy down the road.

4. An applicant’s membership in a group—like AAA, or a homeowners association or alumni organization, for examples—may get lower rates, too.

5. Seeking tax credits or tax deductions. The federal government rewards those who invest in long term care insurance.

Senior citizens on the hunt for affordable but extensive long term care insurance should first and foremost obtain free health insurance quotes online before sitting down with a health insurance agent.

Breast Lift not Enough Anymore

The Hospital Group has reported that during 2009, more than twice as many women have opted for a breast lift with implants, as opposed to just a breast lift.

A mastopexy or breast lift procedure suits women whose breasts may be pendulous as a result of a relaxation of the ligaments due to weight loss, age or having children. The actual size may be fine but the breasts have lost their volume and tone or the nipples may point downward. However, if extra volume is required then a breast uplift procedure may be combined with implants for the best overall result. This has become an increasingly popular method for rejuvenating the appearance of the breasts.

A spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “A breast uplift with implants has become more of a popular option with women wanting to increase the size of their chest as well as the shape”

Those looking to undergo the procedure are sure to achieve better results that ever before. Modern breast implants are available in a variety of types and sizes. You can easily achieve the look you are after with by consulting with one of the many expert surgeons available.

Diet Pill Risk to Health

Dieters looking for a quick fix have been warned against popping mineral pills – after researchers found they increased the risk of heart disease.

The supplement selenium has been hailed by diet gurus as the miracle solution to shifting stubborn fat. The tablets contain antioxidants which some believe can also help to cut the chances of developing cancer.

But researchers at Warwick University found that too much selenium can cause cholesterol levels to rocket.

Using the mineral increased the risk of heart disease by 8 per cent and researchers have now called for a ban on the supplement. Although there is no speedy steps to lose weight, The Hospital Group can provide clear and concise advice for those wishing to undergo weight loss surgery.

The Hospital Group, the UK’s biggest provider of weightloss surgery, has seen a 73.9 per cent increase, with a staggering 12,848 people seeking surgery in 2008. In 2007, 7,385 people enquired into gastric procedures.

The surgery, including gastric band, gastric bypasses and gastric balloons can be used alongside liposculpture – also known as liposuction – and adominoplasty – the common tummy tuck– to sculpt and perfect your body and give you a healthier lifestyle.

Such is the interest in The Hospital Group’s weight loss procedures, bookings have increased to levels above that of the NHS. While the NHS reported that it had performed 2,724 weight-loss operations in 2008, The Hospital Group performed a total of 3,015 gastric procedures in the same period.

Half Of All Women With Implants Are Having Their Old Breast Implants Replaced

The Hospital Group has reported that over the past 3 years, half of all women with implants are having their old breast implants replaced.

Breast enlargements, or “boob jobs” as they are more commonly known, are one of the most popular cosmetic procedures available. This procedure helps women achieve a “curvier” form. It is popular with women who are naturally small busted or those that have noticed a change in their bust size due to weight loss, breastfeeding or the natural ageing process.

Regarding implant replacement, a spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “A lot of our breast augmentation patients wish they had gone a little bigger so therefore choose to have another procedure with larger implants. We also treat patients who have had a breast implants elsewhere and then choose The Hospital Group for their second procedure.”

Women Are Still Lusting After The Perfect Body Shape With The Hourglass Figure Proving Most Popular

The Hospital Group has seen a dramatic increase in women plumping for breast enlargement, with women citing voluptuous celebs such as Kelly Brook, Eva Mendes and Megan Fox as having the figures they admire most.

With Kelly Brook hitting the headlines in a new poster campaign which has been doctored to better cover up her E-cup assets, The Hospital Group reports that the majority of female patients look to go up just two cups sizes.

New 28-Inch Student-Length Lab Coat Answers Customer Demand For Shorter Style And Is Available For Pre-Order

Medelita®, maker of breakthrough medical apparel, today introduced the new Elizabeth B. lab coat to its collection of high performance women’s lab coats. Shorter than traditional coats, the Elizabeth B. is 28 inches in length and falls just below the hip on a woman of average height. The new, shorter-length lab coat is available for pre-order and will be available to purchase online November 6, 2009.

“The introduction of the Elizabeth B. lab coat is a significant milestone for us in that it answers countless customer requests, expressing the need for a lab coat with modern styling, sensible performance fabric features and long-lasting durability,” said Lara Manchik, founder, Medelita. “We chose to name the coat in honor of Elizabeth Blackwell, the very first female medical school graduate who paved the way for women in field of medicine. This appellation also honors customers of Medelita who continue to make significant contributions in their respective medical professions.”

At the turn of the 19th century, female doctors did not exist. But Elizabeth Blackwell changed that with her inspiring life’s work. Education played an important role for Blackwell, whose father moved the family from England to the U.S. Motivated by the desire to fill the unmet needs of women who preferred to consult with a female physician, Blackwell eventually sought a formal education during a time when medical schools simply did not allow women. Her application to the Geneva Medical College in New York was inadvertently accepted because students and the administration thought it was a practical joke.

Eventually, Blackwell’s persistence won her respect, admiration and the first U.S. medical degree awarded to a woman in 1849; however, she was barred from practicing in hospitals and set up a practice out of her own home. Among Blackwell’s many achievements was the establishment of women’s medical schools in the U.S. and in England. The educational institutions were the culmination of plans co-developed with Florence Nightengale, whom she met during the Civil War. Well into her later years, Blackwell continued to inspire and encourage women to study medicine. Today, women represent more than half of the students pursuing some form of medical education.

The Medelita Elizabeth B. lab coat is designed for those medical professionals who prefer technical advancements – not only in their clothing but also in their lifestyle. The fluid resistant lab coat is treated with Advanced Dual Action Teflon® fabric protector, which allows the fabric to repel and release stains, including blood, while maintaining a clean and crisp, polished appearance. Tailored for a feminine yet professional shape, the coats are sewn in the U.S. and feature the highest quality workmanship available in a medical uniform. Modern styling includes rounded lapels with complimentary pocket detailing, clean finishing of all seams, and a hidden inside pocket for transporting handheld devices and other useful medical tools.

Also called a consultation lab coat, the 28 inch lab coat is worn by students across numerous medical professions — medical school, dental school, physician assistant school — as well as by those medical professionals who simply prefer a hip length lab coat. Although the length is often a designation of a student, in some settings, the shorter coat is preferred or even required.

The new lab coat joins the Medelita collection of women’s lab coats, which range from the original, full-length Callia lab coat (38 in.), the Ellody (34 in.), to the Estie (38 in.) and Sophia (34 in.), all of which can be custom embroidered with name, title, and profession as preferred. Eyelift Surgery On The Up

The Hospital Group has reported that the popularity of an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) has been on the increase over the past 5 years, with 62% more patients opting for this surgery.

The typical eyelift surgery patient has drooping layers of skin and deep wrinkles on the eyelids. These lead to a tired and a sad looking appearance. This may run in families and is common in both men and women.

During this procedure a curved incision is made across the natural crease of the skin and excess fat and tissue is removed to lift and open up the eye area.

A spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “Ageing is an issue which more and more people, both men and women, are keen to combat. Eye-lid surgery opens out the eyes and softens lines for a more youthful look.”

This common plastic surgery procedure, to correct heavy, saggy or tired-looking eyelids is called upper blepharoplasty. The procedure removes excess skin and fat in the eyelids to provide tauter skin and a fresher looking eye area.

After the procedure, this patient’s eyes and face look much brighter and more youthful without the eye lids. This patient had both upper and lower blepharoplasty (i.e. eyelids and eyebag removal).

The Hospital Group is one of the UK’s leading providers of cosmetic surgery, number one in obesity surgery and tummy tuck experts. So whatever your requirements, you can rest assured in the safe hands of the professionalism and experience that THG has to offer.

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has risen to become the UK’s biggest weight loss surgery providers, performing more gastric band procedures last year than the NHS. Liposuction on the Increase

The Hospital Group has reported that the number of women having liposuction has increased by 42% in the past 4 years Liposuction has grown in leaps and bounds over the last few years and is often now referred to as liposculpture. Liposculpture creates the same result as the more commonly used term, liposuction or Lipo. Very similarly to liposuction excess fat cells are removed, from almost any part of the body.

However, in contrast to liposuction, the procedure of liposculpture is a more time consuming operation with a greater amount of personal skill required by the plastic surgeon, and creates a smoother end result, changing the contours of your body or face. This cosmetic surgery procedure is suitable for both men and women.

A spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “Liposuction is an incredibly popular procedure. With increasing coverage of celebrity bodies, we are seeing more women turn to liposuction to help them create the body they are looking for. Liposuction is a great option for tackling those stubborn areas which can be resistant to diet and exercise.”

The procedure involves insertion of a Cannula (small tube-like syringe) through a small incision in the skin. The fat is then drawn through the tube leaving a much smoother surface. The procedure is carried out under General Anaesthetic.

For those looking to undergo the procedure: the best candidates for liposculpture are those with stubborn areas of fat which are resistant to diet or exercise. This could include the tummy, buttocks, chin, arms, knees etc. A consultation with a Surgeon will help you identify what sort of outcome you could expect and if it is the right procedure for you. For example, liposuction can remove excess fat around the abdomen, but not excess skin. In this case a tummy tuck might be recommended in order to achieve the desired result.

Obesity and Society

Obese and overweight people are forecast to cost the nation £50 billion – half the NHS budget for a year – by 2050 if the trend continues unchecked, with diabetes the biggest draw on these figures.*

The NHS spends an estimated £600m a year on treating diabetes – the largest in primary care – and tackling obesity levels in Britain could save an estimate £950 per person each year. **

As well as drug spend, hospital admissions for Britans with problems caused by weight-related diabetes also doubled, from 7,000 in 2003-04 to 14,320 in 2007-08. **

In five years, the total numbers of people admitted to hospital as a direct result of obesity rose by 190 per cent, with 5,056 admissions in 2007-08. **

Leading dietitian and Head of Weight Management Services at The Hospital Group, Cirian Marie-Beddoes, said: “Barely a day passes without the cost of obesity on the NHS being mentioned. It’s a very real fact that as well needing to tackle obesity on a personal level, the nation’s obese must consider what a huge drain their weight-induced health problems are on the NHS.

“Having spent nine years working in obesity in the NHS, I feel that the only way to curb the epidemic is with the support of private healthcare, such as gastric band surgery at The Hospital Group.”

A report on the matter produced these key findings:

• Awareness of the problem is not low. †
• 49% of those questioned blamed their poor diet for their size. †
• 63% blamed a lack of exercise. †
• Stress was blamed by 20% of those questioned. †
• 14% blamed their genes and the same percentage said that they were too busy to do anything about their weight. †
• Giving up smoking, large breasts, beer and ‘emptiness’ were also accredited. †

A separate survey revealed that some overweight people believe their weight has affected their careers. The following are some interesting comments that came from this survey:

“I think it’s natural that people have less respect for you if you are overweight.”

“Some people look upon overweight people negatively in that they feel they cannot control how they eat, which may reflect in working life.”

All figures, unless otherwise stated, are from YouGov Plc. Total sample size was 2056 adults. Fieldwork was undertaken between 5th-7th October 2009. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all GB adults (aged 18+).

OnePoll questioned 4000 adults between 19-21 October 2009. The survey was carried out online and the panel used was aged 16+ and nationally representative.

The Real Cost of Obesity on your Health

Obesity is responsible for 9,000 premature deaths a year in England. It reduces life expectancy by, on average, 9 years. The Department of Health’s Change4Life campaign also advises that after quitting smoking, keeping a healthy body weight is one of the best ways to reduce your chances of getting cancer.

With all these home truths, why are so many people ignoring the real cost that obesity can have on their health?

Leading dietitian and Head of Weight Management Services at The Hospital Group, Cirian Marie-Beddoes, said: “One of the most prevalent health issues for the obese is diabetes. 2.5 million people in the UK suffer from Diabetes and a great proportion of those with Type 2 could be cured if they lost their excess weight. “Obesity is recognised as the main factor in contracting Type 2 diabetes, which can lead to further complications such as foot ulceration, nepthropathy, retinopathy and heart disease – all with serious risks and discomfort for the patient, but also costly to treat.”

Research published by the American Journal for Medicine showed that following obesity surgery, 87% of type 2 diabetics either saw a complete cure or improvement.

Cirian added: “We are in a recession, but eating out has become the norm – the team of dietitians at The Hospital Group find that obese families think nothing of popping out for all-you-can eat pizza or Chinese on a regular basis. “This is the root of the problem. People who maintain a clinically obese body weight have a habit of consuming body-builder levels of calories and of course that has to change with a restricted calorie intake. “But it’s also a case of looking at what makes up a person’s diet. You can consume 1,000 high-quality calories and blossom or the same number of calories in junk food and you’ll be ill.”

Dr. Dominic O’Hooley To Be Featured In Upcoming Television Series

The Dental Clinic director, Dr. Dominic O’Hooley, has been announced as the featured celebrity dentist on the upcoming miniseries, Lorraine Kelly’s Big Slim: The Chawner Challenge.

Airing in January 2010, the new 6-part series follows two-time X Factor reject Emma Chawner and her family as they try to slim down.

Emma Chawner first caught the nation’s attention when she appeared on the X Factor in 2007 in a meringue dress, singing Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On. The 19-year old was rejected for both her look and voice by judge Simon Cowell.

Chawner returned two years later with her sister Samantha, 21, only to be rejected again.

Beyond her multiple appearances on the X Factor, Chawner and her family have also gained publicity for other reasons – weighing in at a combined total of 83 stones, the unemployed family has been claiming £22,500 in benefits, according to The Daily Mail.

The upcoming TV series, filmed over a period of five months, tracks the family as they undergo the ultimate makeover. From a diet and fitness regime, to close work with nutritionists, health and fitness experts, and life coaches, the entire programme is designed to provide the family with the opportunity to really change their lifestyle and outlook.

“We’ve designed a format that allows them to meet some of the best experts in the country to give them an opportunity to really change the way they live and how they feel about themselves, whilst providing some excellent entertainment in the process,” Paul Stead, executive producer for Daisybeck Productions, said, in an interview with Broadcast.

One of these experts appearing in the series is dentist Dr. O’Hooley who treated both Emma and her mother, Audrey, at The Dental Clinic in Leeds.

O’Hooley commented on the significance of dental treatments in such all-encompassing makeovers.

“A great smile can go a long way in providing someone with a real sense of confidence,” O’Hooley said. “It can affect the way that you feel about yourself, as well as the way that others perceive and respond to you.”

Though O’Hooley declined comment as to exactly what treatments Emma and Audrey received, he noted that he was happy to contribute to their makeovers.

“I think both Emma and Audrey are very happy with their new smiles, and I was glad to be able to provide them with something that can really contribute to their transformations,” he said.
