Kylie has finally revealed the secret of her vitality – regular Botox injections

She has long been known for her age-less looks, but Kylie has finally revealed the secret of her vitality – regular Botox injections. The pint-sized popstress admitted the secret behind her youthful looks was Botox and other age-defying treatments.

In an interview with Elle magazine, the 40-year-old said: “I’ve tried Botox, I’ve tried them all. I’m definitely not one of those people who says ‘You shouldn’t do this.’ Everyone individually can do what they want. I also think it doesn’t have the stigma that it had when I was growing up.

“For all time women have wanted to, for the most part, look their best. It’s just that what we have available to us today is – what it is today. And if you want to take advantage of it, yeah.”

Kylie’s perfect complexion has sparked many rumours over the years. One cosmetic surgeon has publicly claimed that, in their opinion, as well as Botox, she has had her cheeks and lips cosmetically enhanced.

The Hospital Group, the UK’s leading cosmetic surgery provider, performs many non-surgical age-defying treatments at its clinics, including Botox anti-wrinkle treatment, facial fillers, skin peels, hyperhidrosis and mole removal.

Kylie’s revelation has provoked commentators to point out her seemingly frozen forehead and eyebrows. However, The Hospital Group’s Juvéderm facial fillers plump up the appearance of laughter lines, frown lines and other wrinkles for the more natural look when used alongside Botox anti-wrinkle treatment.

As well as these non-surgical procedures, The Hospital Group performs other age-defying surgical treatments such as face and brow lifts. Other surgical procedures such as rhinoplasty, otoplasty, eyebag removal and eye lifts complete The Hospital Group’s age-beating treatments.

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has grown from a small pharmaceutical company to one of the UK’s foremost cosmetic surgery providers. The Group is committed to providing the very highest standards and all procedures are performed by an expert medical team in state-of-the-art facilities that are second to none.

Recent Research Published By The American Journal For Medicine Showed 87% Of Diabetics Either Saw A Complete Cure Or Improvement After Weight Loss Surgery

As the focus on the nation’s expanding waistlines grows, medical experts now believe that weight loss surgery can completely eliminate all types of Diabetes.

The UK’s number one weight loss surgery provider, The Hospital Group, has seen outstanding long-term results for its gastric band patients over the last three years. Of the 106 gastric band operations performed in January 2007, the total weight loss was a massive 300 stone. Obesity is the main risk factor for Diabetes, so sustained weight loss on this level goes a long way towards fighting the condition, which affects 2.5 million people in the UK, according to Diabetes UK.

The research published by the American Journal for Medicine showed that following obesity surgery, 87% of diabetics either saw a complete cure or improvement.

David Ross, Chief Executive of The Hospital Group, said: “More and more people are choosing to have obesity surgery with The Hospital Group and it’s fantastic because people see results so quickly, which gives them the get up and go to live healthier lifestyles – some free from Diabetes. You wouldn’t think it, but Australia is the gastric band capital of the world. Their government recognises the long-term savings it can make by funding obesity surgery on their national healthcare system – and in the same way, obesity surgery in the UK is saving the NHS money by curing Diabetes patients, which is currently costing the NHS £1m an hour.”

The huge surge in demand for obesity fighting treatments such as Gastric Bands, Balloons and Bypasses from The Hospital Group has more than doubled in the last year, rising from 111 operations in February 2008 to 225 in the same month in 2009. Continuing the trend, enquiries into gastric band surgery have risen by almost 25% from 727 in February 2007 to 963 in February 2009. Health-conscious surgery-seekers in February 2008 made 815 enquiries into The Hospital Group’s obesity surgery.

The Hospital Group is committed to providing the very highest standards and all procedures are performed by an expert medical team in state-of-the-art facilities that are second to none. Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has grown from a small pharmaceutical company to one of the UK’s foremost cosmetic surgery providers, and the same high standards remain to this day. For further information of The Hospital Group’s range of gastric procedures, surgery-seekers should visit the website www.thehospitalgroup.org or call our patient care coordinators on 0845 762 6727.

Comparing Prices Of Breast Augmentation Abroad Online

Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info offers online tool to compare prices of breast augmentation abroad. The website is dedicated to offering comprehensive information on cosmetic plastic surgery. For one of the most popular procedures, breast enhancement, the website provides online list of price comparisons from 46 surgeons and more than 20 clinics, the chance to see average procedure prices from clinics in Breast Augmentation - Breast Implantsthree countries and more.

“Prices are the main reason why people go abroad for breast augmentation surgery,” says Pavel Hilbert, managing partner of Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info. “In this current economic crisis; we think more people will go abroad in order to see their cosmetic surgery dreams realized.”

“Our prices are averaged from the middle costs and don’t include the highest and lowest prices,” explains Hilbert. “This makes for a more accurate view and the visitor can see exactly what is included for each price.”

For example, on the portal you can learn that the prices for breast augmentation in the Czech Republic (average price around 1200 EUR) are about 30% lower than in Poland (average price around 2500 EUR); while in Croatia (average price around 3200 EUR) they are more than twice as high as in the Czech Republic. The same goes for Germany where prices are also approximately twice as high. But Hilbert cautions not to make your decision based on price alone. He says the most expensive doesn’t mean the best; while the cheapest doesn’t mean the worst; it all depends on the surgeon.

“Prices are affected by the type of implant used and doctors vary in which brands they prefer,” says Dr. Libor Kment from Esthé plastická chirurgie, a.s. “Costs can also vary due to the surgeon’s fee; number of days in hospital; the type of anesthesia used plus the consultation fee.”

Online comparison of breast augmentation prices at Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info makes it possible for consumers to do their research online before making any major decision regarding breast enhancement.

Surgicare Reports Rise In The Number Of Male Breast Reduction Enquiries

SurgiCare, one of the largest cosmetic surgery networks in the UK, has released figures that show the number of men enquiring about breast reduction surgery (gynaecomastia) has risen dramatically in the past year.

Data released by the cosmetic surgery company shows that the number of male breast reduction enquiries made at SurgiCare clinics has trebled in January 2009 compared to January 2008.

SurgiCare’s findings are supported by figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps), which reveal that a total of 323 male breast reduction cosmetic surgery procedures were carried out in 2008, up 44% from 2007.

SurgiCare’s data implies that British men are becoming increasingly concerned about their appearance, with problems ranging from classical cases of gynaecomastia, to breasts enlarged by deposits of fat over the pectoral muscles.

While it is possible that increasing numbers of men are simply becoming obese in the UK and insist on taking a surgical shortcut, many Baaps members insist that this is not the only reason for the rise in male breast reduction procedures. Some Baaps members point to hormonal imbalances, such as pubertal gynaecomastia, where excessive breast tissue is developed in adolescent boys, as another possible widespread cause of the ailment. SurgiCare also believes that genetic disorders such as Klinefelter’s Syndrome, where a man has an extra ‘X’ chromosone, can contribute to excessive breast tissue while gynaecomastia can sometimes be an unfortunate side effect of drugs prescribed for the treatment of prostate cancer.

According to cosmetic surgery experts, one of the key factors in the rise of male breast reduction operations is simply increasing awareness by men with regards to their appearance and feeling the pressure to always look good, when, in the past, such issues were more commonly felt by women.

Almost 1000 Breast Augmentation Before/After Photos Online

Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info, which provides information about cosmetic plastic surgery abroad, believes before/after photos are an important tool when making a decision on which surgeon to trust for your breast augmentation procedure. The website currently provides one of the largest breast augmentation before/after photo banks on the web. Almost 1000 before and after breast augmentation pictures from many doctors can be found at Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info.

Pavel Hilbert, managing partner of Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info, an information portal about cosmetic Breast Augmentation - Breast Implantsplastic surgery abroad, says some doctors prefer not to put photos of their work online in order to avoid promoting plastic surgery to youth. In some places, like Germany, it is illegal to show before/after photos until you have been contacted by a potential client.

“Most patients want to see photos and base their decision to contact a particular surgeon on their photo results,” says Hilbert. “Many doctors however think it’s more of a marketing tool and not exactly representative of a surgeon’s work as, of course, they’ll only publish their best samples.”

And what about the unrealistic expectations that so many cosmetic plastic surgeons have to contend with? The results of breast augmentation depend a lot on a body type; and wanting to replicate the look in a beautiful photo may not always be possible.

The purpose of the breast augmentation before/after photos at Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info is to offer visitors another tool for their research. Use it, but don’t forget to take all potential surgery issues under consideration.

Prices Of Liposuction Abroad Comparison

Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery operations. Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info; an online information portal for cosmetic plastic surgery abroad offers comprehensive information on doctors, locations and the all-important cost of having liposuction.

Price is usually the most important factor for plastic surgery clients and clinics and doctors abroad can offer quality plastic surgery services at low prices. Online comparison of liposuction prices abroad provides a tool to find out where to have liposuction abroad at the most suitable conditions.

“Liposuction costs can vary dramatically,” says Pavel Hilbert, managing partner of Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info. “One important consideration is if you want total or local anesthesia; doctors vary on which they prefer and the client’s wishes must be taken into consideration as well.”

Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info lists prices from nearly 50 surgeons operating in more than 20 clinics in a couple of countries. The average price for liposuction in the Czech Republic is around 600 EUR while the average prices in Poland or Croatia are more than twice as higher than that and prices in Germany even higher.

And while price is an important consideration in making your decision to have liposuction, it of course won’t be the only one. Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info puts you in connection with other patients as well as surgeons via their forums to get your questions answered; plus informative articles; patient stories and before/after photos to help make your choice the best one for you.

“Liposuction’s costs are directly affected by the number of areas the patient would like to be operated on,” explains Dr. Karel Urban from Esthé plastická chirurgie, a.s. “There are a limited number of areas that can be liposuctioned at one time; and these are issues that need to be openly discussed with a potential surgeon.”

Cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info offers up to date liposuction price and procedure information at http://www.cosmetic-plastic-surgery.info/prices/liposuction.

The Wohrle Dental Implant Clinic and Dr. Peter Wohrle are now able to offer patients Same Day Dental Implants at their Newport Beach California Dental Implants Clinic

BACKGROUND: About 22 million people in the United States have dentures or no teeth at all. Dental implants can offer a welcome alternative for those who want to regain their smile. The first modern dental implants hit the scene in the 1950s, and they’ve improved quite a bit over the years. Dental implants provide a base for replacement teeth that look and function like natural teeth. The implants are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone grows to the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

According to the American Dental Association, the number of implants placed by dentists increased 49 percent between 1995 and 1999.

STANDARD IMPLANTS: Typically, dental implants are done in two surgical procedures. The dentist will have to refract (peel back) the gum tissue to see just where the implants will go to avoid sensitive nerves. When the proper placement is decided, the dentist will then place the implants into the jawbone. For the first three to six months following that surgery, the implants, which are just below the surface of the gums, bond with the jawbone. While the implants are bonding with the jawbone, new replacement teeth are made by the dentist. When the implants are fully bonded with the jawbone (again, a process that takes up to six months), the dentist is ready to fit the new teeth. The second procedure you undergo includes uncovering the implants and attaching the posts that act as anchors for the artificial teeth. The teeth are then attached to those posts. The entire process takes up to nine months to complete.

NOW, FASTER, EASIER IMPLANTS: Now, dentists are offering an innovative way to give you dental implants and teeth in a one-hour office visit. At an initial patient visit, doctors take a 3-D image of the patient’s jaw using an iCAT machine. When used with new computer software, the images show dentists the exact anatomy of the patient’s jaw, finding even the smallest amounts of bone. Dentists can plan the surgery with pinpoint accuracy using these images and eliminate any potential problems before the patient even arrives at the office for the procedure.

Peter Wohrle from The Wohrle Dental Implant clinics in Newport Beach, California says, “with this new technique, we can treat patients more efficient, with less pain, and more accuracy” Most procedures are done by cutting open the gums. No cutting means less trauma and less pain for the patient. When the patient comes for their implants, it takes about an hour to insert the implants and attach the teeth. Dr. Wohrle says: What used to take months, we often can accomplish now within hours, with much less trauma and better results.”

The Harley Medical Group has noted an increase in the number of women booking in for Body Balancing surgery

The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s leading cosmetic surgery group, has revealed an increase in the number of women undergoing Body Balancing surgical procedures, with patients investing in body tailoring to balance out proportions of pear shaped figures, remove “muffin tops” (the name given to the layer of stomach fat that hangs over a waistline) and to correct asymmetrical boobs.

“Symmetry has an evolutionary basis for determining beauty and has long been an important part of looking good to attract a mate,” commented Lisa Littlehales, the Harley Medical Group Clinic Manager,Cosmetic surgery is used to sculpt the body and, whether they are a size 0 or a size 16, women are requesting plastic surgery to help make their body symmetrical and to balance out the ratio of waist-to-hips-to-chest.”

The Harley Medical Group also revealed the specific procedures women are undertaking to balance their bodies, with breast balancing being one of the most popular. Half of women who come to The Harley Medical Group have a breast imbalance of up to a cup size. The most common sized breast implant at The Harley Medical Group is the equivalent of a C cup but corrections can be made in breast size up to an accuracy of the size of a teaspoon. As well as perfecting an imbalance, breast augmentation is increasingly used to reshape “rectangular” women, defined as someone whose waist is less than nine inches smaller than the hips or bust.

Another popular procedure according to The Harley Medical Group is the “Muffin Top Op”, which gets rid of the layer of stomach fat that hangs over the waistline. A “Muffin Top Op” is carried out as a day case and can only be performed on those that are within a healthy BMI of 28. The results are immediate and once a fat cell has been removed it rarely grows back so, as well as banishing those love handles, a tight tummy is also easily achievable.

The Harley Medical Group also revealed a large number of women are undergoing “Pear Reshaping”, with an estimated 70% of British women being pear shaped.

Lisa Littlehales said: “As this body shape ages, it is prone to developing a “square” bottom shape, so at The Harley Medical Group, we do a reshaping operation to help balance the proportions of the top half with the lower half of the body and simultaneously make the hips less angular.”

The pear reshaping operation is again a day case and the recovery period is around six weeks.

About The Harley Medical Group:
The Harley Medical Group is the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider, performing more procedures and with more clinics than any other cosmetic surgery provider. It has been established for over 25 years and is one of the most highly-regarded Cosmetic Surgery Groups operating in the UK. It has conducted over 400,000 procedures to date.

Following the disastrous weight loss surgery experience of TV personality Anne Diamond in Europe, SurgiCare has urged anyone seeking a similar procedure to stay in the UK

SurgiCare, the cosmetic surgery specialist, has warned people seeking weight loss surgery to stay in the UK to undergo the procedure, instead of going overseas, following the terrible experience of TV’s Anne Diamond.

Ms. Diamond travelled to Belgium for the weight loss surgery that would fit her with a gastric band after unsuccessfully trying to lose weight by traditional methods, such as dieting. Unable to question the nurses regarding the operation due to the language barrier, Ms. Diamond blindly underwent the procedure.

The operation, which limits the stomach’s capacity for food by tightening a silicone loop three quarters of the way up the stomach, brought very little change to Ms. Diamond’s weight however and upon researching the procedure, Ms. Diamond returned to Belgium to have a ‘fill’, where the surgeon injects some saline into the port of the band to inflate it and increase the restiction. This also made no difference to Ms. Diamond’s weight.

It was only after consultation with a private medical company in the UK that Ms. Diamond was told that the gastric band was in the wrong place, a problem that could have been avoided if the procedure had been done under X-ray as it is at many clinics in the UK. After undergoing the operation once again, this time in the UK with nurses and surgeons she could communicate with, she managed to lose three stone before her weight reached a plateau.

Ms. Diamond’s experience isn’t a rare occurance with many surgeons in the UK admitting to having to repair gastric bypass operations that have been done in other European locations.

Caroline Deakin, weight loss manager at SurgiCare, said: “Surgery in the UK offers you peace of mind that you will be cared for in UK regulated hospitals, be able to communicate with all practitioners you have contact with and should you run into complications help is at hand 24 hours a day in a location not to too far from home.

“We would urge people not to go abroad; we have had several enquiries from distraught people who have opted for a cheaper option and who have been left high and dry; with very little or no aftercare at all and because of this they have not been able to utlise their procedure to its full potential resulting in little or no weight loss as well as suffering avoidable complications.”

Aftercare following gastric band surgery can last indefinitely, following an initial two year period with annual appointments.

Anne Diamond also commented on her successful UK operation, telling the BBC: “I was confident that it would work, because now I knew several people for whom it had been successful.

“And this time, I wasn’t so frightened about the operation itself. I understood the procedure, was able to talk it through, ask lots of questions.

“Weight loss surgery is certainly not the first step – and for many people it would never be an option. But it can help many people reverse their slide into ill health and possibly very serious conditions.”

The Harley Medical Group has released its figures for 2008 while also revealing the cosmetic surgery trends that are expected in 2009

The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider, has reported that the “city boy bonus” cosmetic surgery, which is usually buoyant early in the year, has been replaced with what’s been dubbed “city severance surgery” where city bankers are using their redundancy packages to rejuvenate their appearances for the challenges they face when trying to secure a new job.

Harley Medical also reports that the last three months and into January 2009 has seen a “softening” of 2008’s strong Breast Augmentation market which was popular with 20-something women in particular, whilst the “silver surgery” market has seen an increase. Overall, 2008 was a bumper year for the Harley Medical Group, with surgical business up 26% year on year.

Liz Dale, Director at the Harley Medical Group commented: “The market is moving almost on a weekly basis in 2009, with our City and Marlow clinics seeing a decline on “city boy bonus surgery” but almost pound for pound this market has been replaced by the “city severance surgery” with City patients using redundancy money to fund cosmetic surgery procedures. This has been reported by our City, Chelmsford and Marlow clinics in particular, with over 230 patients coming through the doors of our 25 clinics over the last three months citing redundancy money as their funding source.”

Lorraine Midwinter took voluntary redundancy from Lloyds TSB after 31 years service. Just one month after being made redundant, she booked into the Harley Medical Group’s Bristol clinic and opted for liposuction to her chin and abdomen. She said: “I’d thought about having surgery for some time but losing my job helped me make up my mind to go ahead with the procedure. Having the procedure has given me a huge confidence boost. I managed to secure an excellent new job two months after my severance surgery.”

While the breast augmentation market has slowed down over the past three months, facial surgery has enjoyed an uplift of 9% over the last quarter, which is in part due to “city severance surgery” patients opting for facial procedures. Experts also claim that the uplift in facial surgery could be down to a desire amongst people to increase their employability by improving their “fresh faced appeal”. Rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty and face lifts have seen the strongest three month growth.

In 2009 The Harley Medical Group predicts that while surgical procedures, without enjoying the big patient increases that have been common in recent years, will continue to make up the majority of the bookings, non-surgical treatments will continue to grow significantly in 2009.

The Harley Medical Group’s programme of 2009 non-surgical product launches has begun with the introduction of the Obagi Blue Chemical Peel. Following an 86% growth in skin treatments year-on-year for 2008, the highly effective Obagi Blue has been dubbed by doctors as the “Recessionista’s Facelift”, thanks to its striking results and relatively low cost.

Amongst the other new treatments due to be released in 2009 exclusively through The Harley Medical Group is the first and only Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved treatment for successfully reducing and removing stretch marks, a problem that afflicts nearly 90% of all women over the age of 25 and a new liposuction for removal of unwanted fat that is faster, less traumatic and far more effective that the current treatments available in the UK or Ireland.

The Harley Medical Group reveals UK tummy tucks and non-surgical procedures are still booming

Figures released by The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider, reveal the cosmetic surgery market is defying the global economic downturn with a 26% growth year-on-year.

Business has been booming throughout The Harley Medical Group‘s 23 UK cosmetic surgery clinics, as Brits continue to invest in themselves. Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck operations as they are commonly known, have seen the biggest rise in popularity, with a 54% increase year-on-year. A growing number of patients are opting for this surgery following significant weight loss, where they’re left with unsightly, excess skin flaps. The Harley Medical Group has conducted over 10,000 post-obesity surgical procedures over the last five years and with a quarter of all adults predicted to be clinically obese by 2010*, the Tummy Tuck boom looks set to continue.

Liz Dale, Director at The Harley Medical Group, commented: “What’s working for us is that we’re attracting two different types of customers. Non-surgical procedures are growing faster than ever this year – with skin treatments like Medical Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels up 86% year-on-year – because consumers are increasingly recognising them as inexpensive, highly-effective beauty solutions.”

She continued: “However, the surgical side of the business, which accounts for 70% of all procedures, is also continuing to grow. In addition to the explosion in Tummy Tucks, Rhinoplasty procedures are up 40% and Liposuction is up 27% year-on-year, so we’re still seeing evidence that people are prepared to spend money on their appearance, despite the economic downturn. Cosmetic surgery is something that our patients will have planned for and thought about for a long time. They see surgery as an investment and are unlikely to postpone; instead they’ll cut back in other non-essential areas like taking foreign holidays.”

Michelle Gudgeon, 43 from Durham, a patient at The Harley Medical Group who’s recently had an Abdominoplasty said: “I’m cutting back in other areas because my bills have increased and I’m concerned about what might happen next year, but there was no way I was going to put off my surgery. This is something I’ve saved up and wanted for ages. Before I had the operation I’d thought about it for years. Having the procedure has given me a huge confidence boost – it’s a long time investment with a lifetime benefit.”

These latest figures also show men now make up significant patient numbers at theHarley Medical Group, accounting for 17.5% of all patients.

Lisa Littllehales, Harley Street Clinic Manager commented: “Non surgical procedures are particularly popular with men, boosting treatments of PPx Aesthera, which is used to treat acne and sun-damage. We’re increasingly offering more male-friendly treatments such as Laser Hair Removal to remove back, chest and facial hair and Botox to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). We’re definitely seeing ever more male traffic in terms of both patient enquiries and people treated.”

The Harley Medical Group has been established for 25 years and has performed over 400,000 treatments.

Most people have heard of ‘duvet days’ and even Christmas shopping leave. Now some businesses are introducing ‘Botox leave’ in a bid to deter employees from taking sick leave for their pre-party beauty treatments.

Cosmetic surgery provider, The Harley Medical Group has reported that enquiries for Botox treatments have increased by 21% over the last six weeks, and has noted that a number of businesses have introduced ‘Botox leave’ to cope with increase demand from their staff looking to take time off for beauty sessions. Businesses have introduced two hours leave to ensure staff can make their annual appointment for the £210 jab with their Botox Doctor without taking unauthorized leave.

Recruitment company, Blue Skies, said; “Companies are right to be inventive with their incentives. Although ‘Botox leave’ is certainly quirky, if people are adopting this incentive there is obviously a call for it. In the current market, giving people time off for endeavours that suit their lifestyles can be a cost effective way of incentivising staff if budgets do not stretch to other more obvious benefits”.

Liz Dale, Director at The Harley Medical Group said; Enquiries for Botox increased rapidly in November and December as people want to look their best for the Christmas parties. We think ‘Botox leave’ is an interesting incentive to offer employees and have seen a number of patients particularly in our Chester, City and London clinics who have been granted time away from the office for their injections.”

Stephen Fox, Managing Director of Fox Kalomaski, the marketing and advertising agency, commented; “We noticed a demand amongst our staff for a day off in the run up to Christmas to not only pick up their Christmas gifts, but also to make appointments for their hairdressing, beauty and particularly Botox treatments. We now offer all staff a day’s leave in December and have unofficially called this day”Botox Leave” because we’ve heard rumours that this is what people do with this day – to make sure they’re looking their best for the Christmas party photos”.

Surgicare Reveals That Following Weight Loss Surgery, Most Patients Report A Big Improvement In Their Sex Lives

SurgiCare, one of the leading cosmetic and wieght loss surgery providers in the UK, recently conducted a survey of all their weight loss surgery patients about their lives following their procedure, with 71% reporting a big improvement in their sex life after dropping the pounds.

With nearly two thirds of men and more than half of women in the UK being overweight or obese and increasing pressure mounting to be slim and look good, more and more men and women are choosing weight loss surgery to achieve their ideal figure.

Mark Bury, chief executive at SurgiCare said: “Just a year on since surgery, our patients are reporting big improvements in their quality of life. 90% said that their mobility had increased, with 73% reporting increased levels of exercise. Our surgery also revealed that 71% of patients enjoyed a new found pleasure from their sex life, which is probably down to 86% reporting massively improved self esteem. We advise an increase in activity after surgery to maintain the weight loss, so our patients are definitely enjoying new and enjoyable ways to exercise.”

Mark was however keen to point out that weight loss surgery should not be taken lightly or be considered a quick fix. He commented, “Our weight loss surgery program is designed for patients who are obese and serious about losing the weight for health reasons as well as looking good. SurgiCare’s weight loss surgery includes a unique two year after care program designed to support patients and maintain the best wieght loss results in a healthy and safe way. We also offer lifetime aftercare through annual reviews at the end of the aftercare program itself. Whatever procedure patients undertake, it will not have the desired effect if the aftercare program is not followed. It is essential.”

With TV personalities like Fern Britton being open about having received surgery and providing a great example of the possible benefits following the fitting of a Gastic Band, more people are looking at how weight loss surgery can help them transform their life too.

SurgiCare offers Gastric Banding and Gastric Bypass surgery performed by some of the UK’s leading obesity consultant surgeons and ensures potential patients meet strict criteria before agreeing to go ahead

NC Plastic Surgeon Discusses Importance Of Breast Implant Placement

While the issue of ‘over’ or ‘under’ the pectoralis major muscle receives a great deal of attention, even more important than implant position relative to this muscle is implant position vertically and horizontally on the chest wall. In many patients, the inframammary fold needs to be lowered in order to allow the implant to rest at a level that appears natural relative to the position of the nipple and areola, and in order to prevent the appearance of excessive upper pole fullness. In my Raleigh North carolina Plastic Surgery Practice, I regularly place breast implants below the muscle and above the muscle.

In profile, the natural-appearing breast is not convex in the upper pole, and an excessively convex and overly full upper pole is a dead giveaway that an implant sits below the skin. Likewise, if the inframammary fold is lowered too far, the augmented breast will appear ‘bottomed out’, with an excessively full lower pole, an empty upper pole, and a nipple/areola that appears to sit too high on the breast – another situation with a distinctly unnatural appearance.

The horizontal position of breast implants also requires a great deal of attention, both in pre-operative planning and in the operating room. Breast implant pockets that extend too fat laterally will result in augmented breasts with an excessively wide space between them in the cleavage area, and the appearance that the breasts are abnormally far apart. If the pockets do not extend far enough laterally, however, the result is an augmentation with an abnormal ‘side by side’ appearance. As it is the lateral projection of the breasts beyond the lateral limit of the chest wall (in frontal view) that, along with the concavity of the waist profile and the convexity of the hip profile, produces the appearance of an ‘hourglass figure’, careful attention must be paid to ensure that lateral breast projection is adequate and appropriate.

Another consideration is that the implant base diameter must match the existing anatomic limits of the breast preoperatively and the breadth of the anterior chest in general. Obviously, a given implant volume and diameter that works well for a small-framed patient who is 5’2” will be inadequate for a large-framed patient who is 5’10”. Careful evaluation of all of these issues is necessary if the ultimate goal of the surgery is a natural-appearing breast enhancement.

I urge all propective patients to take time, do a lot of research and view many many before and after photographs before selcting a plastic surgeon to perform your breast augmentation. Taking some taime to speak to several former patients who have had the same surgery you are considering can also be helpful.

NC Plastic Surgeon Michael Law MD Compares Dermal Fillers

Juvederm, Restylane, Prevelle Silk, Evolence Raleigh, NC Plastic Surgeon Michael Law MD Compares Dermal Fillers

Restylane and Perlane are naturally-occurring injectable agents used for lip enhancement and to soften facial lines and creases. We have found Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm Ultra, and Juvederm Ultra Plus to be very well tolerated, and have yet to encounter an allergic or inflammatory response to any of these products. According to our Allergan representative, our Raleigh, North Carolina Plastic Surgery Practice is one of the top users of Juvederm in the U.S., but we do still use Restylane and Perlane for some patients and we feel confident in the safety and efficacy of both Restylane and Juvederm products.

Restylane and Juvederm do NOT contain any material that does not naturally occur in soft tissues, such as hydroxyapetite or methylmethacrylate, which can result in granuloma (cyst) formation and chronic inflammation. Be VERY wary of injectable agents that contain materials that do not naturally occur in soft tissues, as the risk of these complications is often minimized to patients.

Restylane or Juvederm injections require just a few minutes to perform. The aesthetic improvement is immediate, and in general we will attempt to slightly overfill the lips and overcorrect lines and folds, so that the desired effect remains once the mild initial swelling subsides (in about 24 hours). The goal is an aesthetic improvement that appears natural.

Most injections of Juvederm Ultra or Juvederm Ultra Plus, Restylane or Perlane can be performed with little or no pain by administration of local anesthesia just prior to the injection. Injection of the lips is usually completely painless, using intra-oral anesthesia that produces total numbness of the lips. For injection of lines and creases on the face, a local anesthetic solution is used that causes vasoconstriction, decreasing the likelihood of bruising following the injection. Our aim is to provide an immediate and beautiful aesthetic enhancement, with little or no discomfort and downtime.

The duration of the improvement varies from patient to patient. Some patients have reported ressults of up to a year with Juvederm Untra Plus. Many patients that enjoy the results of their hyaluronic acid treatments become interested in permanent soft tissue enhancement. For these patients, structural fat grafting, using autologous (the patient’s own) fat. Using specialized instrumentation and technique, structural fat grafting can produce permanent improvements in facial contours.

Prevelle Silk is a new hyaluronic acid dermal filler that can eliminate wrinkles or create fuller lips instantly. Dr. Michael Law www.michaellawmd.com has recently introduced Prevelle Silk into his North Raleigh Plastic Surgery Practice. Prevelle Silk contains lidocaine, a numbing agent that helps minimize discomfort associated with the injection. Prevelle is also unique because it leaves virtually no swelling. People can get an injection in the afternoon and look beautiful just hours later. The cost for Prevele Silk is just $295.00 for a 1 cc injection. results lasts approximately 2-3 months.

I expect that many people who try Prevelle Silk as their first filler will be pleased with the results and may opt for a longer lasting filler like Juvederm, Perlane or Restylane for longer lasting wrinkle reduction or lip plumping in the future. Mentor Corporation, the manufacturer of Prevelle Silk will be introducing other hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers in the near future that promise to have a longer lasting results than Prevelle Silk.

Evolence is a porcine (Pig) derived collagen product used to provide soft tissue augmentation. Although no allergic reactions have been reported with Evolence, there have been several reports of nodule formation in the lips. I am currently not using Evolence in my practice. I feel more comfortable with Juvederm, Restylane or Prevelle Silk for temporary soft tissue augmentation and structural fat grafting for permanent augmentation.

A number of other products are available as soft tissue fillers, but many are as yet inadequately tested, and others have been found in some cases to produce disastrous and permanently disfiguring results, such as injectable silicone. Remember, when considering the injection of a soft tissue filler, be sure that your doctor can explain to you what the substance is, why he or she has chosen it, and what side effects and potential complications can occur. Once again, be very wary of injectable agents that contain materials which do not naturally occur in soft tissues, as the risks of complications can be significant. The Harley Medical Group, Has Revealed That The Demand For Boob Jobs Is Booming But Huge Boobs Are Out

The Harley Medical Group has revealed that while breast surgery is proving to be hugely popular, many women are opting for a more natural look than the all-up-front look sported by Page 3 and glamour models

Nurse counsellors across the Harley Medical Group‘s 23 UK clinics questioned women who’d recently undergone breast surgery during, page three model, Nicola McClean’s tenure on celebrity reality TV show, “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here”. Women were asked what they think of Ms. McClean’s self proclaimed “lovely jugs” with the majority of those questioned giving the glamour model’s chest a firm thumbs down.

Of 121 women questioned, 99 (81%) said that they though her breasts were just too overblown and artificial looking. Instead, the women said they would opt for a more natural look, reflecting the ‘less is more’ attitude now taken by other celebrities including Jordan and Ulrika Jonsson.

This attitude is backed up by figures from The Harley Medical Group, which show 75% of women who have had a breast enlargement in the last six months opted to go up just one or two cup sizes. The figures from the Harley Medical Group also reveal that boob jobs remain the most popular of all cosmetic surgeryprocedures, making up 30% of all procedures across its 23 clinics.

Director of the Harley Medical Group, Liz Dale said: “Breast enlargement has always been top of the ops we perform. It’s a very personal choice and if a ballooning bust is what Nicola wants then good luck to her. However, over the last five years we’ve really noticed that huge breasts are out and instead women come to us looking for a natural result, not a ‘look at me’ statement neckline, which can sometimes cause too much attention.

“In fact, the most popular cup size requested is a C cup and 80% of our patients opt for just a one or two cup size increase. Contrary to popular belief, most cosmetic surgery patients want to fit in – not stand out.”

The new breed of breast enlargement patients, keen to keep things in proportion, are plumping for the “lower profile implant” in preference to two other available breast implant shapes – the “round high profile”, which produces a more rounded appearance to the upper breast and the “contoured” breast implants, which are designed to reflect the slope of the breast.

Sarah McLaughlin, a Harley Medical Group patient from Leeds, had a breast augmentation, increasing her bust size from 32A to a 32C. She said: “I couldn’t stand my flat chest and I’d planned to get a boob job for a while but I was wary of it looking too obvious – particularly as there are lots of men in my line of work. A C cup is perfect for me, giving me a sexy but subtle shape. Now I can dress my boobs up or down, depending on the occasion.”

The Harley Medical Group – the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider – is reporting an all-time high in Laser Hair Removal bookings, as patients look to take the hassle out of Christmas. Jennifer O’Callaghan, a Laser Hair Removal patient, said: “I’ve just had Laser Hair Removal for the first time after a colleague recommended I give it a try. With three children, a full-time job and Christmas coming up, I simply don’t get the leisure time to sit in the bath and groom myself. Laser Hair Removal can treat almost all parts of the body including the face, bikini-line, under arms, legs, nipples and tummy-line. It’s quick and gentle but can remove all unwanted hair permanently.

to look their absolute best. Non-surgical treatments offer affordable and accessible solutions to take the stress out of your beauty regime and giving you one less thing to worry about this festive season.”
