Global leader in serialization solutions Systech to attend the annual pharmaceutical congress CPhI Worldwide in Barcelona, 4 – 6 Oct 2016

systech_international_slogo_europawireBRUSSELS, 28-Sep-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Systech International, a global leader in brand protection technologies, will partner with Sharp Packaging and SINEL SYSTEMS, part of the Autajon Group, at CPhI Worldwide, the annual pharmaceutical congress held in Barcelona from 4 – 6 October 2016.

Systech will be part of Sharp’s panel discussion addressing delegates on the theme of “Serialization: Optimizing Your Supply Chain Means Optimizing Your Partners.” The presentation will explore the critical path to supply chain readiness, risk assessment, benchmarking and serialization risk mitigation options. The briefing will take place in the Pharma Insight Briefing room on Tuesday, 4 October 2016 at 11:30am CEST.

Systech will also showcase its UniSeries™ serialization software offered as an integrated solution within Autajon’s exhibit booth #2P16 (Hall 2).

CPhI Worldwide, together with co-located events ICSE, InnoPack, P-MEC and FDF, will host more than 36,000 visiting pharma professionals from 4-6 October at the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain. More than 2,500 exhibitors from 150+ countries gather at the event to network and take advantage of more than 100 free industry seminars. Every sector of the pharmaceutical market is represented under one roof, this year in a new location in Barcelona.

With thousands of implementations across the globe, Systech is the world’s most trusted brand protection expert, and its UniSeries offering is the industry standard for serializing products. UniSeries is offered as an integrated solution with both Sharp Packaging and Autajon Group’s hardware. Systech’s patented, configurable software offers manufacturers the flexibility to adapt to new regulations without extensive reworking or revalidation, thereby reducing implementation, training and support costs.

“We are recognized as the world leader in serialization and brand protection,” states Manfred Voglmaier, Senior Director Sales Europe, Systech International. “With more than 30 years of experience in providing highly configurable solutions for serialization across a variety of industries ― along with our partners Sharp Packaging and Sinel ― gives us a unique insight for this panel.”

Systech’s products are in greater demand than ever before since it is estimated that over 15,000 production lines for prescription medication in Europe must be fitted with a serialization system over the next three years. The European Commission adopted a regulation on October 2, 2015, under which the serialization of prescription medicine packages will become mandatory in all EU countries by 2019.

Show exhibit hours are on Tuesday, 4 October – Thursday, 6 October. Systech representatives will be available in the Sharp Packaging booth #3L56 (Hall 3) during the event, as well as in the Autajon booth #2P16 (Hall 2). They will showcase Systech’s software solutions on sample packaging lines and via live demos throughout the event.

Sway Medical’s app for sports concussion exam received European CE Mark as Medical Device

sway-concussiontest-is-a-validated-ios-app-based-concussion-management-system

TULSA, OK, 08-Sep-2016 — /EPR HEALTHCARE NEWS/ — Sway Medical is a US medical device company who’s software turns an iPhone or iPad into a mobile medical device that provides immediate medical grade, objective concussion measurement to medical professionals.

Sway Medical LLC (Sway) would like to announce its official availability in all European Union Countries. Sway was issued its CE Mark after being marketed in the United States and Canada for two years. This is significant because European sports organizations ranging from youth through pro level now have an affordable and convenient sideline assessment tool supporting concussion related medical decision making. Medical professionals and trained coaches can obtain a concussion assessment via an Apple mobile device (iPhone or iPad) and the Sway Balanceâ„¢ System web-portal. Acute objective measurements are obtained by performing a 1.5 minute balance and reaction time test protocol. Licensed athletic trainers, physical therapists and athletic therapists are able to join physicians in acutely managing the underserved market of youth sports, ages six and older.

Concussion injuries are very common in sports, often going un-reported or ignored until the obvious symptoms have incapacitated the athlete or draws the attention of a parent or coach. Second Impact Syndrome (SIS) is a serious medical condition with published mortality rates of up to 50%. SIS occurs when an athlete returns to play while still recovering from an initial concussion injury. During this time, the brain is highly susceptible to additional injury and complications. The Sway Balance™ System is able to accurately assess and track the acute and chronic outcome related to an athlete’s balance, motion reaction time and concussion symptoms. The Sway Balance™ System provides a graphical representation comparing suspicious injury event tests against a pre-injury “normative” or baseline score. The comparison of event tests against an established baseline is a common measurement for traumatic brain injury diagnosis and recovery tracking.

The Sway Balance™ System is available for purchase by licensed medical professionals involved in school, occupational or sports medicine through www.swaymedical.com. Additional protocols are available to assess an individual’s “Fall Risk” or “Functional Status”.

Health Gorilla Releases Mobile Application for Doctors

Digital Health Leader Expands Marketplace Access with Mobility

SUNNYVALE, CA., 2014-8-20 — /EPR Healthcare News/ — Health Gorilla™, Inc., the first online healthcare marketplace to connect doctors and clinicians with over 9,000+ diagnostic labs and 35,000+ radiology centers, has announced today the release of Health Gorilla mobile.  Health Gorilla mobile provides access to the Health Gorilla Marketplace through the Apple® iPhone® and iPad™.

Today over 68% of doctors have standardized on the Apple platform to communicate with peers and patients. Doctors can now use their mobile devices to place electronic orders with Health Gorilla mobile to diagnostic labs, radiology centers, physical therapy, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and durable medical equipment (DME) and other medical providers nationwide with the ability to track and review the results instantly as they arrive.  Physicians can then forward electronic results within their practice or exchange them with peers and patients to streamline the process and improve quality of care.

According to a study published by the New England Journal of Medicine noted that approximately 59.3% of all of a primary care physician’s daily emails were for the interpretation of test results and 21.7% were responses to patients.  The use of email generally increases the risk for doctors and their patients as most email services are not HIPAA compliant.

Another study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) reported that researchers from the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston conducted a survey of primary care practitioners and found that a third reported missing alerts about test results from an electronic health record notification system designed to inform them when a patient has abnormal test results.

Doctors are adopting iPad and iPhones as the platform of choice to communicate with peers and patients. Health Gorilla mobile integrated messaging greatly reduces the risk in communication between a doctor and their patients by offering a fully HIPAA compliant environment. Health Gorilla mobile enables a physician to securely and compliantly forward diagnostic test results, radiology images, admission and discharge summaries and other clinical documents to patients and care coordinators through secure messaging.

Benefits of Health Gorilla Mobile Include:

  • HIPAA compliant and ONC modular certified MU2 solution
  • Order in less time than it takes to use fax forms
  • Receive results faster wherever you are
  • Forward results to patients instantly
  • Immediately refer results to another doctor and send messages
  • Eliminate error prone paper processes
  • Mobile solution available at no charge for doctors and their teams

“We believe that the value proposition is clear and compelling for doctors and their teams.” said Steve Yaskin, Chief Executive Office, Health Gorilla, Inc.  “The existing process is heavily dependent on paper, fax and manual processing.  It is slow, cumbersome and prone to error.  Doctors can better manage their time, and the time of their administrative and care coordinating teams, by using the power of the marketplace through the Health Gorilla app.  Now they have one place to order from any diagnostic lab, radiology center, hospital, physical therapy, sleep center, SNF and other healthcare providers in the United States.  A doctor can start with us the first day and begin ordering through the marketplace immediately.  Health Gorilla is the first to deliver this capability.  No other vendor can provide this benefit.”

Health Gorilla mobile is available as an approved Apple® enterprise application and will be distributed to existing Health Gorilla Marketplace users via a secure link for the next month.  In September Health Gorilla mobile app will be available from the Apple® store and will be fully integrated with the Apple® Health app upon its release.

The End of Alzheimer’s? A revolutionary scientific advance to the cure

Interface Dynamics Control Corporation (IDCC) has completed the first phase of its decade-long Advanced Therapeutic Interventions Project, with the result that a new approach to arresting and curing Alzheimer’s disease and the other neurodegenerative diseases has been produced and verified. IDCC is now launching the Project’s second phase, which will validate the first phase findings.

Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, with more than 5.1 million Americans currently affected. The direct cost of Alzheimer’s is greater than $200 billion annually, a number expected reach between $1.2 and $1.5 trillion by 2050. Indirect costs are substantial: more than 15 million caregivers delivered some 17.5 billion hours of unpaid care valued at more than $200 billion.

IDCC has discovered the mechanism of and means to control the protein misfolding, abnormal aggregation, and degradation processes associated with the degenerative and prion diseases. That mechanism is also implicated in the failure to clear toxic intracellular proteins and in the dysfunction of apoptotic (programmed cell death) pathways. It underlies the adverse functions of the neuroglia (glial cells), including microglia, which provide immune defense to the central nervous system (CNS) and maintain homeostasis and protection for neurons in the brain and the peripheral nervous system.

The process of neurodegeneration has not been understood previously, which has precluded the production of any arresting or curative procedures or drugs. The Project’s findings, however, should lead to the realization of a new class of curative procedures and pharmaceuticals which can be engaged to defeat the disease-initiating neurodegenerative insult, thereby introducing the possibility of preventing these devastating diseases. There are direct implications for the human cancers, but verification of those implications must await further experiments.

The first major activity under the Project’s second phase will be the production of a new class of active imaging system. That system will be utilized to demonstrate the activities and accessible control points of the process pathways which, when certain abnormal events occur, trigger the incipient causal mechanisms of disease. The Project is currently developing the staff and capitalization required for execution of its second phase.

About IDCC
IDCC was founded thirteen years ago to produce definitive solutions to seemingly intractable problems of social and technological significance. It is privately held and maintains its projects and client identities in strict confidence unless and until information releases are authorized by competent authority.

Leading Veterinary Group with over 70 Vets in London Releases New YouTube Video

The Goddard Veterinary Group consists of over 70 vets in London, three dedicated veterinary hospitals and a wealth of other services to provide dedicated care for clients and their pets. Their new YouTube video showcases their practice and friendly staff. Goddard Veterinary Group started with just two practices in East London in 1952, fast forward 61 years to the release of their “Vets in London” YouTube video, they now boast 47 surgeries including three veterinary hospitals, as well as a pathology laboratory, a hydrotherapy unit, boarding kennels and cattery.

Regional Manager and Head Vet, Jeremy Stewart explains, “Here at the Goddard Veterinary Group, we’re very lucky. We’ve been a practice running for the last sixty years and we are a successful practice. That enables us to have the financial ability to reinvest and that is investing in the hospitals, in the branches, in the staff that we employ, enabling us to provide the best level of clinical care that we can for our patients.”

What started as a family run business in 1952 has expanded and grown over the years. The practice is still privately owned and is managed and staffed by a caring, hard-working and dedicated team. Julie Driscoll, the Head Receptionist at one of their practices says, “I like the fact that it’s a small family run business that although it’s grown as a whole, it still retains that individual feel.”

Their YouTube video showcases their Wanstead Veterinary Hospital, which was the first of three hospitals to be established by the Goddard Veterinary Group. Each hospital supports their local veterinary surgeries and they are open all year round, 24 hours a day. Jeremy Robinson, the Goddard Veterinary Group’s General Manager says, “Each surgery is fully equipped with surgical facilities and offers a personal, friendly yet professional service. Our network of branches is fully supported by our veterinary hospitals. These offer specialist referrals, as well as being open 24 hours a day.”

The referrals are available to all Goddard Veterinary Group practices and all other vets in London via a veterinary surgeon. They offer referrals in neurology, dermatology, ophthalmology and diagnostic imagining. Each of their referral disciplines have an RCVS or European Recognised Specialist. Tom Flynn, the Clinical Director says, “We have several Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons specialists and diplomats in a wide variety of disciplines and that gives us the ability to offer the highest level of expertise.” Goddard Veterinary Group also benefits from a veterinary physiotherapist, who is based at Stone Lion Hospital.

The Goddard Veterinary Group are dedicated to giving their clients and pets the highest level of care possible and so offer training courses to all of the vets that they employ. “As a vet at Goddard Veterinary Group, I feel it’s a great place to work. It gives me the opportunities to further my career. I’ve had numerous training courses and it means I can provide a high level of care to my clients and to my pets that I see.” says Ruth Gloster, a Branch Surgery Vet from their Putney practice.

Tom Flynn adds, “We recognise that each pet is a unique individual and a really important member of the family. Working with our vets in London, we can form the best plan possible to keep that pet as healthy as possible for as long as possible.”

EMS Healthcare’s recent work supporting better healthcare, closer to home

The prospect for major investment in new healthcare estates looks slim as the strategy to bring care closer to people’s homes becomes reality. Keith Austin, managing partner at EMS-Healthcare has looked at how the switch to community care is raising standards nationwide:

“Private Finance 2, which sets out a new approach to financing the building and maintenance of public infrastructure, will be used to build the next generation of hospitals. But despite its announcement at the end of last year there has been little movement to invest in new healthcare estates.

“The delay isn’t just about money or red tape; there is the wider strategy to consider of moving away from care delivered in hospitals to providing care closer to people’s homes.”

Keith continued, with how EMS Healthcare in particular helps address the costs involved with this kind of shift in patient care: “The scale of investment necessary to meet this ideal is much smaller than that required for developing new large scale hospital sites. But this isn’t the only benefit. We have been working with numerous private and public sector organisations to facilitate care in the community via medical trailer solutions and have been inspired by what has been delivered and the warm reception from patients and staff alike… To say the benefits can be life changing is not an overstatement.”

One stand out project for EMS Healthcare has been to fit out and supply Clatterbridge Cancer Centre with a state-of-the-art mobile chemotherapy facility. Since the beginning of the year the medical trailer has been improving patient care by making treatment as accessible and easy as possible, serving around 25 people daily from the Chester area in a Tesco car park.

“Perhaps an unlikely site for life-saving treatment, but the feedback from patients has been overwhelmingly positive. The bespoke medical trailer houses six chemotherapy stations with preparation, reception and waiting areas. Patients feel a real sense of community and ownership while attending the clinic and the environment has been described as ‘warm and cosy’ with a ‘more jovial atmosphere’.”

Other initiatives that EMS Healthcare have been involved in include a medical trailer eye clinic which helped medical consultants save the sight of thousands of patients across the East Coast of the UK, while saving them a trip of up to 84 miles for treatment. A temporary renal dialysis medical trailer unit has also saved patients in North Wales hours of travel every week, helping to improve their quality of life.

Thousands of patients across the UK are making long journeys to receive specialist treatment. These unique facilities provide a solution to help reduce the cost, burden and strain of travelling while delivering first class care. Waiting time is minimal too, making the experience less tiring, and a more familiar location helps put patients at ease.

The evidence is clear on why healthcare providers are taking their care closer to people’s homes. This patient-centric approach is set to continue and Keith – and EMS Healthcare – are proud to be part of it.

“Heart Within a Heart” – Surgery Cures 12 Year Old With Rare Congenital Heart Disease

A 12 year old Indian boy successfully underwent open heart surgery for an extremely rare variant of Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (TAPVC) at Sri Muthukumaran Medical College and Research Institute, Mangadu, Chennai.

Prabhakaran, a ‘blue baby’ born with a heart birth defect seen in only 1 out of every 500,000 births, had 2 “hearts” inside his chest, one within the other. This complexcongenital heart disease is so rare that it merited selection out of 430+ submissions to be presented at the recently concluded international conference of the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery (IACTS) at Mumbai in February 2013.

In an intricate open heart operation that lasted 5 hours, the cardiothoracic surgical team including Dr.S.Sivasubramanian, Dr.S.Visvakumar and Dr.Meenakshisundaram successfully repaired the defect.

Unable to afford the high cost of treatment, Prabhakaran’s widowed mother searched desperately for assistance with her son’s surgery. His operation was sponsored by theDr.Mani Children Heart Foundation, a Chennai-based NGO which has funded 100 heart surgeries for under-privileged children with congenital heart disease since its inception in 2003.

In the defect, a rare intracardiac sub-type of TAPVC, all 4 veins returning oxygen-rich blood from the lungs drained into a common chamber (the “pulmonary confluence”) – forming a mini-heart behind the regular heart.

This mini-heart then pumped blood into the atrium through a hole in the heart called an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), making him a cyanotic ‘blue baby’. Prabhakaran’s surgery was carried out on 16th October 2012. A week later he was discharged from hospital, his lips and fingernails now pink and healthy.

The department of cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology at Sri Muthukumaran Medical College and Research Institute, Mangadu, Chennai has successfully carried out more than 75 operations on patients with valve, coronary and congenital heart diseases in the short period since its inception.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is rare, with an estimated incidence of 7 to 8 in 1,000 live births. Surgery is often risky and expensive, yet serious complications can arise if treatment is delayed.

For more information about congenital heart defects (CHD), visit the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation website at http://www.CHDinfo.com

EMS Healthcare forges ahead with new mobile cancer unit

EMS Healthcare is helping The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre deliver care closer to the community with the development of a bespoke mobile chemotherapy unit.

Clatterbridge in the Community will take to the road from early January, delivering treatment to patients at the Sealand Tesco site as a pilot prior to a roll out across Chester and the Wirral, using its fully customised mobile medical unit to reduce unnecessary stress from travel and help to cut down waiting times.

Keith Austin, Managing Partner in EMS-Healthcare said: “We have been working closely with The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre to develop a mobile facility that will ensure they can deliver first class patient care close to people’s homes, right in the heart of the community. The medical vehicle has been designed specially to meet their requirements and we anticipate that it will house the largest mobile chemotherapy treatment space in the country.”

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is one of the largest networked cancer centres in the UK. From nine operating sites across Merseyside and Cheshire it treats over 27,000 patients a year, offering pioneering chemotherapy, radiotherapy and proton therapy treatments.

Kim Barrow, Head of Daycase and Outpatient Services at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre said: “Over the last few months EMS Healthcare has been working hard to turn our vision into reality. We are delighted with the progress and look forward to launching the new care unit to patients in the New Year.”

EMS-Healthcare’s work with The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre follows a successful health roadshow campaign delivered on behalf of cancer charity, Tenovus, which treated 15 chemo patients per day in South Wales. This mobile medical unit was the first of its kind in the UK.

Carlton Senior Living Wins Silver in 2012 McKnight’s Technology Awards

San Francisco-California-based Carlton Senior Living took home silver at the 2012 McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards — Connect Our World competition. The family-owned senior living provider was honored for its therapeutic music program at its memory care communities.

Carlton Senior Living (www.carltonseniorliving.com) has won the Silver Award at the 2012 McKnight’s Technology Awards. The organization received the award in the ‘Dignity Through Technology’ category that celebrated a community that effectively leveraged technology to improve the level of dignity its residents enjoy. The award was in recognition of Carlton Senior Living’s CORO Health music therapy and LiFE (Letting Individuality Freely Exist) program.

McKnight’s Technology Awards recognize technology-related innovations in the senior care field, felicitating facilities/communities that have harnessed technology to enhance, among other things, staff-resident interaction, residents’ dignity, and level of care. The McKnight award is another feather in Carlton Senior Living’s cap, with the provider having won accolades in the field of ‘Advanced Caregiver Training’, ‘Balance Fitness and Mobility Assistance’ and ‘Diabetes Management’, from the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), a national trade association representing assisting living providers.

Carlton’s one free-standing dementia care community is Chateau Poet’s Corner in Pleasant Hill; the organization operates LiFE memory care units in Chateau III, Pleasant Hill, Carlton Plazas in San Leandro, San Jose and Sacramento. One at Elk Grove is currently in the works. In each memory care community, therapeutic music through the Coro Health Media Tablet is provided. The medical and scientific communities unanimously agree on the healing effects of music. From helping brain trauma victims develop new pathways around damaged brain areas to allowing the brain to display emotional connections, music has a special place in senior care centers.

Carlton Senior Living’s partnership with Coro Health is in keeping with its mission to explore innovations that reaffirm its commitment to delivering love, honor and top-notch care to its residents. Coro Health’s MusicFirst product was a perfect fit to Carlton’s goal of putting the power of music to good use in its communities and delivering ‘care in the air’ that positively impacts residents’ behavior as well as psychological and physiological well being.

Coro’s patented technology has registered many success stories at Carlton Senior Living. “The Coro Media system has increased the quality of life for our residents, their loved ones, and our staff. We have music to compliment the environment for activities and dining to reinforce our person centered care dedication. UK Based Teeth Whitening Clinic, Smile Tech, Welcomes the New UK Law that Means Only Dentists can Perform Teeth Whitening Treatments

Following calls by the General Dental Council (GDT) to change the law and dental regulations to stop non-dentists carrying out teeth whitening treatments, those changes have been put in place and the law come into force in a move that has been applauded by the British Dental Health Foundation and the UK’s leading cosmetic teeth whitening clinic, Smile Tech.

A spokesperson for Smile Tech, which is one of the largest cosmetic teeth whitening providers in the UK and operate in shopping centres says, “We employ dentists to provide high quality, professional, safe treatments and an affordable price to the customer and that is why we have over 20,000 happy customers on our books to date.” They add, “We have always felt strongly about and fought those providers who have ignored the health and safety risks and given the professional teeth whitening clinics a bad name.”

Before this law change came into place, the regulations regarding tooth whitening procedures were a bit of a grey area. The 1984 Dentists Act came at a time before teeth whitening was a common practice, with the Act stating that “only dentists can perform dental procedures.” As teeth whitening is often seen as a cosmetic process as opposed to a dental process, non-dentists and non-dental professionals were able to carry out the treatment.

“There was often a lot of bad press towards teeth whitening clinics and providers that operated from shopping centres because there was very little control over who could or couldn’t carry out this procedure.” Smile Tech’s spokesperson explains, “We really suffered from this, as even though we have always used fully trained dentists, our Smile Tech premises are within shopping centres so we were bundled into this ‘unsafe’ category – which Smile Tech really isn’t!”

Smile Tech are now hoping that with local treading standards officers and the General Dental Council taking action to close down and prosecute any premises continuing to let non-dentists and non-dental care professionals carry out teeth whitening treatments, their customers and prospects can rest assured that they are safe in Smile Tech’s professional hands.

“Every single one of our clients have to go through a full and thorough consultation with our dentist before they undergo their teeth whitening treatment. Each year we turn away hundreds of people who, following their consultation, have been found to be unsuitable for the procedure.” Says the spokesperson for Smile Tech. They continue, “During the treatment’s set-up, we go to great lengths prior to applying the whitening gel to completely and totally isolate the teeth to ensure that the gel will not come into contact with the client’s gum. We also use a destaining agent and a de-sensitiser to give our clients the safest and most comfortable experience, whilst of course still achieving a great result.”

Birmingham Men Opt To Be Hair Free

The Harley Medical Group’s Birmingham clinic reports rise in men seeking laser hair removal.

Following recent reports on the increase in men opting for beauty treatments, The Harley Medical Group reveal that the trend is being reflected at their Birmingham clinic, where it is Asian men opting for laser hair removal, that are making up most of the bookings.

Bookings at The Harley Medical Group’s Birmingham Clinic show that it is most commonly Asian patients looking for alternative hair removal for their face and body. Asian hair is typically darker and thicker than Caucasian or Afro Caribbean hair and grows at the quickest speed of 1.3 cm a month. Therefore laser hair removal is the ideal solution for permanent hair reduction.

Although there is an increase in men looking into Laser Hair Removal, the clinic also sees many darker haired women book in for treatment as a result of feeling self-conscious about excess hair especially on areas such as the face and arms. Patients want an effective way to reduce the amount of hair growth.

Naz Akhtar, Nurse Counsellor at The Harley Medical Group says: “Waxing and shaving can become costly and can leave skin dry and sore. With the average person shaving 11,540 times in one lifetime, hair grows back faster, darker and thicker as a result.

In comparison to waxing, laser hair removal has minimal discomfort and is an effective treatment for ingrown hairs. The laser treatment uses light to penetrate the epidermis (outermost layers of cells in the skin) to target the underlying hair. The dark pigment absorbs the light and destroys the hair and the root and further growth is hindered, leaving the skin with a smooth appearance. Our advanced lasers have been approved by the FDA (US Food and Drug Standard Agency) and can treat all Asian skin types.

Asian hair tends to be quite course and stubborn in comparison to that of our white and black counterparts, but responds brilliantly to our lasers. We see patients leaving the clinic feeling more comfortable and confident than ever before.”

Mesa AZ Dentist Views Banner Health Through The Eyes Of A Child Program Sponsorship

During the last 30 years of providing dental care throughout the Mesa community, the Robison Dental Group has continued to give back o the nonprofit health organizations serving local residents.

This month our staff gave recognition to one of the nonprofit organizations serving the Mesa community. After hearing so much about the programs Banner Health offers through our patients, many who are Banner Health employees, one just tugged at the hearts so much that our entire staff simply said “That’s The One”. It was unanimous. Charlotte, our Office Manger of 25 years, and the entire staff were so excited, the next thing I knew, there was a shopping list for gift bags and an assembly line in our lunchroom.

“Through The Eyes Of A Child” – A Cardon Children’s Medical Center Program Banner Health responded to the needs of our children who were unable to attend school during treatment. Six years ago, Banner Desert Hospital started a program for schooling and the transition back to school. In 2009 the school was relocated to the Cardon Children’s Medical Center, which now serves over 1000 children each year. The program is staffed and managed year round

The teachers at Cardon school act as advocates for each student, communicating with the child’s teachers and school officials .Having the knowledge and experience to know what each child is entitled to, “Through The Eyes Of A Child”.

The school provides a “Re-Entering” phase where a teacher or counselor will accompany the child back into the child’s home school or classroom to provide answers for the teacher and fellow classmates. This is a very emotionally sensitive process that requires the skills and experience of the Program Staff.

The hospital was designed to look and feel as close as possible to home. Each room is equipped with a dining table, small refrigerator, and bathroom. There is a convenient laundry facility available for parent’s personal use.

We want to thank Sue Eaton, MSW, CCLs and Senior Manager Child Life, for the tour and opportunity to be a part of this great organization, and most certainly, the banner employees who speak so highly of Banner Health

We are proud of Banner Health, and we know our gifts and money for our sponsorship is serving one of the best causes we all stand for, “giving back to the community and our precious children within it”.

Don’t Let Your Hair Slow You Down This Summer, Says The Harley Medical Group

The UK’s leading cosmetic surgery group has teamed-up with a group of four London 2012 Olympic athletes as part of a new advertising campaign, designed to encourage more people to experience the benefits of laser hair removal.

Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin from the Team GB beach volleyball team were joined by diver Pete Waterfield, an Olympic silver medallist, and Commonwealth heptathlon champion Louise Hazel. The athletes each underwent an individual consultation during which a nurse covered exactly how the treatment works and assessed their suitability for the treatment, before undergoing laser hair removal in London, at The Harley Medical Group’s Harley Street clinic.

Before walking out into a crowded arena, the athletes need to be 100 per cent sure that they are looking their best and will be able to compete to the best of their ability. Zara, who will be performing on a specially made beach at Horse Guards Parade in the capital, stressed the importance of knowing that she is looking her best when she walks out onto a court.

She said: “Obviously it is really important to feel confident and to not have to worry about those kinds of things, and we’re travelling around so much that it can be quite difficult to keep on top of it. With permanent hair removal it is one less thing for us to have to worry about.”

Louise added: “Not only has it given me confidence on the track, knowing that I can put my skimpy knickers on and feel safe and sound, it saves so much time with shaving and having to de-frizz and de-fuzz every day.”

Established in 1983, The Harley Medical Group offers a wide range of surgical and non-surgical procedures, from botox injections and line and wrinkle treatments, to breast implants and face lifts. Fostering People Ireland Announces Recruitment Events

Fostering People Ireland, the non-statutory Dublin-based fostering agency, has announced two upcoming events aimed at recruiting more carers to help the growing number of children in need of care in the capital and the surrounding area. Fostering People Ireland has grown its reputation since its launch in September 2011, but remains in need of qualified, enthusiastic carers.

The first event will be held at Maudlin House Hotel in Naas, County Kildare on 23 May 2012 from 4pm – 8pm. The second event will be held on 6 June 2012 at the Premier Inn, Airparks in Swords, County Dublin from 4pm – 8pm. Refreshments will be provided at both events.

The fostering agency based in Dublin is encouraging people from all walks of life to come and talk to their advisors about all things fostering, from qualities needed to become a foster carer to fees and allowances. The events are an ideal opportunity for people to have an informal chat with the agency’s foster care experts in order to see if caring would be a good fit for them.

Whilst Foster Care Fortnight is in full swing in the UK, Fostering People Ireland is determined to keep the spotlight firmly on addressing the growing need for carers in the Dublin area.

Lesley Dale, Service Manager at Fostering People Ireland, said: “Events like these are crucial in helping people find out whether fostering is right for them. Whether they are able to drop by for a quick chat or stay for a drink to discuss fostering, we can provide the information that can help them make the decision that has the potential to change the lives of children in need.

“Fostering People have really made a name for themselves in Ireland as an independent fostering agency with a great network of support for its foster carers. We hope that these events will help us get that message across and convince people that deciding to become a foster carer is life changing.”
