South Florida Cosmetic Dentist Describes Dangers of Neglecting Dental Treatment

The Surgeon General’s first report on oral health observes that dental cavities are the most common childhood health problem – 5 times more common than asthma. More than 50% of children ages 5 to 9 have at least one filling.

One of South Florida’s best cosmetic dentists, Dr. Charles Nottingham, observes “We lack adequate access to dental care for many Americans. For every American with dental insurance, there are three more who don’t have it.”

Poor children are two times more likely to suffer from cavities than their more affluent peers. More than 51 million school hours are lost to dental-related illnesses and the corresponding pain can cause problems with learning, eating, and speaking. “We have the technology and know-how to ensure that everyone can improve their oral health, but not everyone has access to it,” notes Dr. Nottingham, one of South Florida’s best dentists.

Adults don’t fare much better. Fewer than two-thirds visit a dentist in a given year. Americans lose more than 164 million hours of work time each year from dental disease or dental visits. Severe periodontal disease affects 14% of adults 45-54. “Smoking and other forms of tobacco use are big contributors to poor oral health,” says Dr. Nottingham, a cosmetic dentist. “Yet many Americans remain unaware of that.”

“Oral care is an integral part of overall health care. Dental visits can prevent a number of problems – such as infections – which, left untreated, can spread to the rest of your body,” points out cosmetic dentistry specialist Dr. Nottingham.

The Harley Medical Group Sees Speedo Sag Explosion

The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery group, has reported that with the male physique under the spotlight more than ever, it is seeing increasing numbers of men looking to go under the scalpel to banish the ‘Speedo sag’. With celebrities such as David Beckham, Hugh Jackman and Justin Timberlake championing the less-is-more beach look, men across the country are likewise taking pride in their physique.

As a result, The Harley Medical Group has seen 24% more men bookings for abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) operations to get rid of their ‘Speedo sag’ over the last month compared to the same period last year.

Liz Dale, Director at The Harley Medical Group, commented, “The more traditional, baggy board shorts hid a multitude of sins. We’ve heard from our nurses anecdotally that one of the principle drivers for male tummy tuck ops in the lead up to the summer season is the impending beach reveal.

“Many of the men that come to us for ‘Speedo sag’ surgery have lost weight or been on a fitness drive and are looking for surgery to remove stubborn pockets of fat or unsightly, loose flaps of skin on their paunch. It’s the final step in their journey to achieving a body they actually want to show off – in Speedos or otherwise.”

Mr Frati, consultant cosmetic surgeon at The Harley Medical Group commented, “An abdominoplasty to remove ‘Speedo sag’ involves an incision just above the pubic area. This surgery removes excess skin and fat and tightens the muscular and fascia parts of the stomach, leaving it flatter and more taute. As well as seeing more men having this surgical procedure, liposuction to the upper thigh area, or the flanks, is increasingly popular.”

Florida Vaginal Surgeon Offers Superior Liposuction: Vaser Lipo

If you’d like to get rid of stubborn fat, but aren’t crazy about liposuction, you’re not alone. Now there’s an alternative called Vaser Lipo. “This technique is minimally invasive and can very precisely remove body fat from just about anywhere on the body – even the delicate areas around the face and chin,” says Dr. Mark Scheinberg of the Center for Cosmetic Gynecology.

Traditional Lipo: Using a suction device to break up fatty deposits, conventional lipo also tears apart surrounding tissues, damaging nerves, blood vessels, and collagen structures. This results in pain, bruising, and a prolonged recovery period.

Vaser Lipo: The vaser probe is inserted in the body where it uses sound energy (similar to that used in cataract removal) and liquefies the targeted fatty tissue. A suction device then removes the liquefied fat, but preserves blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue. “This minimizes pain and improves skin retraction following the procedure,” says Dr. Scheinberg. “Recovery time is also much shorter than with conventional lipo.”

Vaser Lipo procedures have been performed over 150,000 times worldwide, with excellent safety results. A recent randomized, single blind study presented at the Annual American Society of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting reported that Vaser Lipo showed a 53% improvement in skin retraction compared to standard liposuction. Vaser Lipo also resulted in 26% lower blood loss than traditional lipo.

South Florida Cosmetic Dentist Warns Against Badly Trained Cosmetic Dentists

Nationally there are over 150,000 dentists, and the number is growing at a rapid rate. However, a staggering quantity of inexperienced students graduate from dental school every year and enter directly into practice. Some of these graduates go on to get specialized training in cosmetic dentistry, but many become general dentists who attempt specialized cosmetic dentistry without the necessary expertise.

A survey by Harris Interactive revealed that 11% of Americans annually (and the number grows every year) received an in-office cosmetic dental procedure to beautify their smiles. High-quality cosmetic dentistry can transform your appearance, but poorly executed dentistry can prove disastrous.

Here’s a shocking statistic from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry: over 25% of Americans’ yearly expenditures cosmetic dentistry is spend re-doing and correcting unsatisfactory dental work from a previous visits. “While cosmetic dentistry can be transformative, badly performed dentistry can lead to a lifetime of pain and problems.” says Dr. Charles Nottingham, one of the best cosmetic dentists in Florida.

A report by the Surgeon General found that over 39 million people, or 22%, experience some kind of oral-facial pain in a given six month period. The report estimates that 12.2% of Americans suffers from toothache, 5.3% from jaw joint pain, and 1.4% from face or cheek pain.

Founder of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, Ronald E. Goldstein estimates that 50% of American dental work is spent on cosmetic procedures. Undoing other dentists’ shoddy work accounts for an estimated one-seventh of the over $80 Billion spent on dentistry in the U.S. In a 2004 Wall Street Journal article, various cosmetic dentists estimated that re-doing others’ work accounts for 25% to 50% of their work.

“You need to be a careful consumer of dental services,” Dr. Nottingham, a South Florida cosmetic dentistry provider, points out. “Do your research and make sure you choose a reputable doctor with a lot of experience in your procedures.”

Makewell Meditour Helps Nigerian Family Find a Facility to Perform Rare Separation Surgery for Conjoined Twins

Makewell Meditour Ltd., a pioneer in India’s medical tourism industry lived up to its tagline – “Connecting you to good health” when it successfully organised the surgery that gave a new life to eight month old, co-joined Nigerian twins.

Makewell Meditour Helps Nigerian Family Find a Facility to Perform Rare Separation Surgery for Conjoined Twins

The eight-month-old twins shared a common gut from the duodenum to the end of the small intestine; along with having interconnected large intestines and blood vessels, the twin girls also shared a common liver and gall bladder. Understandably, the surgery to separate them was going to be an extremely complex one and to a large extent beyond the reach of their father, Emmanuel Adugbe who works in an ice cream factory and mother, Comfort Adugbe-, a housewife.

With the ratio of such occurrences being one in every 1, 00,000, the rarity and complexity of the surgery was not in their favour and the parents approached Makewell – an ISO certified company, in November 2009 to enquire about the medical facilities available in India. The team from Makewell realised that the success rate of such operations is only 30% and conducted a due diligence on what the best route would be while ensuring the comfort and peace of mind of the family with the progress they were making with their research.

Through the company’s networking with the best medical practices, leading healthcare institutions and doctors, most of whom have received overseas medical training and are widely acclaimed for their medical acumen; they ensured complete care of family’s medical procedures at a fraction of what it would cost anywhere.

After months of dedicated search, Makewell presented this case to the Narayana Hrudayalaya Woman and Child Institute, which agreed to conduct the complex surgery. Many surgeons who were part of this had operated on Lakshmi Tatma in 2007, born with her partially formed parasitic twin and had eight limbs. A team of 24 doctors operated on co-joined Nigerian twins, Peace and Patience Adugbe, and successfully separated them despite their complex internal anatomy.

The Harley Medical Group Reports World Cup Widows Plump For Jabs

The Harley Medical Group is reporting that as the 2010 World Cup kicks off, many of its 29 UK clinics will be at ‘full capacity’ with non-surgical treatment bookings up 25% on the England match dates.

While many male footie fanatics have scheduled time off work to watch the first round of games in June, women across the country are making the most of the free time and booking rejuvenating peels and wrinkle relaxing injectables.

Keen to not to have any distractions this summer men are openly encouraging girlfriends and wives to spend more ‘me’ time, with pampering sessions and girls-only days out.

Liz Dale, Director, The Harley Medical Group, commented, “During the World Cup four years ago, we noticed a peak in female dominated treatments. This year the trend continues with enquiries for June up 48% compared to this time in 2006, which reflects the cumulative growth we’ve seen in non-surgical treatments overall. Women know they won’t be getting much attention from their husband or boyfriend while the football is on so this is the perfect feel-good factor treat.”

“Unsurprisingly we’re also expecting cosmetic surgery bookings for men to be down slightly – around 10% – in June for the first time in 20 months.”

Miami Cosmetic Dentist Explains Sedation Dentistry

Nearly 30% of Americans are afraid of visiting the dentist and even will put up with pain or discomfort to avoid dental visits. However, for those people, there is another way:sedation dentistry. It can also be called oral sedation dentistry, anxiety-free dentistry, and relaxation dentistry.

Miami Cosmetic Dentist Explains Sedation Dentistry

Available for both general and cosmetic dentistry, sedation dentistry can be used for procedures from simple cleanings and root canals to complete smile makeovers. At a dental visit you and your dentist will agree on the needed treatment. The dentist will give you a prescription for a drug such as Valium, Ativan, or Sonata.

“Most of the drugs have been available for years and all are safe to use,” says one of Miami’s best sedation dentists, Dr. Kenneth Anenberg, cosmetic dentist from Smile South Florida. “Some of the prescriptions last longer than others, so the amount of time necessary for your treatment will help determine what kind of medicine you will receive. Be sure to tell the dentist about other drugs you are taking and details of your medical condition.”

The day of the procedure, you will take your medicine before the appointment – how far in advance will be determined by how long your treatment will take. You will need a companion to drive you to and from your appointment. When the dentist starts the procedure, you will feel relaxed and, possibly, drowsy, points out Anenberg, a Miami sedation dentist. Most patients don’t sleep deeply unless they’ve been administered general anesthesia, which most dentists don’t provide.

The Harley Medical Group Sees A Boom For Bigger Breasts

According the Harley Medical Group in Dublin, breast augmentation is again the fastest growing sector of cosmetic surgery with a positive increase on last years enquiries of over 37%. The latest data from The Harley Medical Group accounted for 27 of all procedures undertaken by the group in the last 12 months.

A large part of this increase has been attributed to a desire by women who have just given birth to get back into their original shape, or better, as soon as possible after giving birth. Post-baby surgery currently accounts for an estimated 75% of all Breast Uplifts (mastopexy) at the Harley Medical Group and Irish attitudes have changed dramatically as women are now happy to talk about their Surgery and show off their new found confidence.

Breast augmentation is the third most common type of post-natal procedure with mums making up 60% of patients. The shape and position of breasts as well as the overall body figure can change considerably after giving birth and so many mums opt to get breast enlargements to suit their new body shape.

The Harley Medical Clinic has over 27 years experience in cosmetic surgery and prides itself on the beautiful natural results it achieves. The highly qualified surgeons are there before, during and throughout the aftercare following the procedure.

A Breast Augmentation operation is normally performed under a General Anesthetic and takes approximately 1–1.5 hours. The average cost for breast augmentation is €6,610.

Optical Express Now On Twitter

Optical Express has entered the world of social media, with the company recently launching its new Twitter accounts. Designed to better communicate with patients, customers and potential employees about the group’s current happenings and opportunities, four separate accounts have been created, each to fill a unique niche.

Optical Express Now On Twitter

Optical Express Marketing Manager Lindsay Taylor commented on the significance of this move.

“With the amount of people currently using tools like Twitter to communicate with one another, this was something that we couldn’t afford to miss out on,” she said.

According to Taylor, joining Twitter is not so much about being a part of a trend as it is about capitalising on a new communication tool that can benefit Optical Express patients, customers, and staff members.

“There is such a huge amount of information floating around on the internet related to both laser eye surgery and general eye care, and we want to be able provide a quality source of information, through our website, of course, but also through other mediums as well,” she said. “By reaching out, we hope that we can dispel any rumours, and help foster a constructive dialogue.”

The group’s corporate account can be found @OpticalExpress. This is the account that announces news updates, promotions, and competitions as they occur. As opposed to functioning as an extension of an advertisement for the organisation, it provides a stream of other news that may interest followers, including links to new articles uploaded to the “Eye Expert” informational segment of the Optical Express site, and announcements regarding the release of new designer lines of frames, for example.

@JoannaAtOEuk is designed as a point of contact for customer service enquiries, responding to Optical Express-related posts, and answering any questions. This includes everything from providing links to eye clinic locations, to connecting users with the relevant individual in the organisation to answer more clinical questions. Finally, @oeCareersUK announces job openings as they arise, enabling interested individuals to receive instant notifications when positions open up.

The Harley Medical Group Sees Increase In Botox Procedures For Men

Over the last week, The Harley Medical Group has seen a 26% increase in bookings from men wanting anti-sweat Botox treatments, dubbed ‘Sweatox’. As the summer months fast approach, amidst reports of record temperatures, increasing numbers of men across the UK are opting for Sweatox.

Used to prevent the embarrassment of slippery handshakes, unsightly underarm sweat patches and office shirts sticking to damp chests Botox injections work by freezing sweat glands, stopping perspiration in the palms of the hands, under arms, chest and soles of the feet. The effects last up to six months, so many men are preparing getting prepared for the rumoured sizzling summer ahead in the UK.

Liz Dale, director of The Harley Medical Group, said: “Nearly 10% of Botox treatments in the last month have been males specifically wanting anti-sweat treatments. Many are thinking ahead to the warmer summer months and want to avoid embarrassing sweat patches as they face rising temperatures on commuter-packed public transport.

“Dubbed Sweatox, this treatment is ideal for both those suffering from the medical condition, hyperhidrosis, as well as those just wanting to combat visible wet patches and clammy palms.”

The Harley Medical Group Reveals Many Voters Swayed On Looks Alone

The Harley Medical Group’s latest poll has found that many UK adults confess that a politician’s appearance influences the way they vote, and Brown comes out bottom of the pile for style.

Never before have politicians been under such scrutiny for their outward appearance as this year, with the series of public debates. Now, a new poll out by The Harley Medical Group reveals that over a quarter (26%) of people confessed that a politician’s appearance influences the way they vote, whilst a further 29% said it may sway their vote.

The Harley Medical Group’s survey of 2,000 adults also showed that the party leaders clearly aren’t getting enough sleep with respondents agreeing that all three would benefit from cosmetic surgery to remove their eyebags. However, almost three times more respondents (61%) suggested Gordon Brown should opt for the scalpel on his eye bags, with just 27% and 28% urging David Cameron and Nick Clegg respectively, to do the same.

While David Cameron and Nick Clegg are closely vying for the crown of style king, Gordon Brown’s chances of another term in power are likely to be hindered by his lack of style in the public eye, with just 12% admitting to liking his dress sense.

Liz Dale, director at the Harley Medical Group, commented, “With so little between the candidates, everything counts at this stage and the visual impression they convey is key. We all know experience carries a certain weight but today’s results show people like a youthful face, with 43% of respondents saying this is important to them. Famously when Nixon and Kennedy went head to head in their presidential debate, Kennedy’s tanned, boyish looks helped him win the day and ultimately the election, despite Nixon taking the debate.”

Fort Lauderdale Cosmetic Dentists Offer Revolutionary Sports Appliance

Fort Lauderdale Cosmetic Dentists Offer Revolutionary Sports Appliance Cosmetic dentists at Smile South Florida Cosmetic Dentistry are now fitting patients for the Makkar PPM sports mouth guard which enhances sports performance.

Lauderdale cosmetic dentist Dr. Charles Nottingham and his team at Smile South Florida Cosmetic Dentistry have recently started offering the Makkar PPM sports appliance, a mouth guard which is specially fitted to each user and has been proven to enhance sports performance. Invented by Dr. Anil Makkar, each appliance is custom-designed and manufactured for each individual. The device aligns the athlete’s head, neck and spine improving balance, range of motion, flexibility, endurance, and oxygen flow during athletic activities.

The appliance works on the principle that the muscles of the face, jaw and neck should be aligned to be most efficient and restful. Most people do not have that alignment naturally and the result can be headaches, neck strain, and cracked teeth. The benefits that users experience are the result of a more efficient neuromusculature, and enhanced oxygen flow through an increased airway. Most athletes see improvement in their performance immediately.

The Makkar PPM products are only available through trained dentists who are PPM-certified. Now the cosmetic dentists at Smile South Florida Cosmetic Dentistry are offering this mouth guard to their patients. The dentists are Smith South Florida thenexamine their patients using advanced technology to see where the muscles and jaw should fall naturally. They take an impression and bite registration of the patient’s mouth and send it to the manufacturer, which creates a customized mouth guard. The PPM mouth guard is a true game changer. No matter which sport, it gives its users an edge over the competition. The mouth guard is used and endorsed by a number of well-known athletes, including Shaquille O’Neal and Terrell Owens, who have their own Signature Series lines of the PPM device. Skier Bode Miller and golfers Scott McCarron and Mike Elkington also sing the appliance’s praises. The New Orleans Saints recently became the first NFL team to get the PPM mouth guard for every athlete — a purchase that may have played a role in the team’s spectacular 2009 season.

“This really is a unique device,” says Dr. Charles Nottingham, a Miami cosmetic dentist & Fort Lauderdale dentist at Smile South Florida. “It can be used by high school, college, amateur and professional athletes. Just about everyone who uses it sees immediate improvement in posture, balance, strength and endurance. It’s particularly useful in sports with a lot of explosive moves such as tennis, hockey, and football, but athletes in most sports benefit from it.”

Report Shows The Recession Hasn’t Stopped The World From Wanting To Look Good

Flashy television programmes like ‘Nip/Tuck’ and gossip sites like TMZ make it very easy to believe that Los Angeles is the cosmetic surgery capital of the world. But cosmetic surgery is no longer such an‘American’ practice. CosmeticSurgeryGuru.com has studied reports from around the world and has discovered a large number of countries are becoming increasingly open to cosmetic surgery. As breast implants, botox injections and other forms of body augmentation can offer improvements in appearance and confidence, it is no surprise that no country holds a monopoly on these procedures.

The UK is just one of the many countries experiencing a cosmetic surgery renaissance. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons found that, during 2008- 2009, the UK’s total number of procedures rose by 9%. These trends were echoed elsewhere in Europe. In fact, statistics indicate the USA is only 19th on a list ranking cosmetic surgery per capita, being thoroughly outpaced by Switzerland, Cyprus and Spain.

Cosmetic surgery practices are also more open about sharing information now there is no longer a ‘taboo’ surrounding the industry. Earlier this month, New Zealand released its first figures recording the number of procedures that took place in the country in 2008. This data from the New Zealand Foundation for Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery suggested 2,739 procedures took place in the country that year, with breast enlargement comprising 16% of the total (matching the worldwide trend of breast augmentation and liposuction dominating the surgical landscape).

While it is useful to learn how many procedures are actually taking place, it is also interest to find out how culturally accepted cosmetic surgery has become. 38% of females polled by Olay Regenerist revealed they would happily have cosmetic surgery, with the common goals being to look younger (37%) or to increase romantic attractiveness (21%).
