Connecticut Drug Rehab Announces Changes Within Its Facility

The driving force behind change with any drug rehab should be the focus and goal of assisting more individuals get and remain sober.

Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center has maintained that focus and goal for the past twelve years, attempting to continually incorporate innovative treatment methods into its program to achieve even higher success rates. It has done so once again with the addition of two new key components: a new Clinical Director and a new treatment modality, acupuncture.

“Mountainside’s success is attributed to the forethought of its founders,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “Our goal has always been to combine innovative, cutting-edge treatment modalities with evidence-based treatment modalities, creating a program that insures the most optimum recovery outcomes for our clients. In order to accomplish this, it is important that everyone on the Mountainside team share the same vision. Recently, we brought a new individual onto our team who does share the same vision – Fred Keane, a Licensed Master Social Worker, whose outstanding leadership and clinical practice experience will benefit Mountainside tremendously as he serves in the position of Clinical Director. Fred has also been instrumental in helping us implement our new acupuncture program that we have recently begun. Both of these newest changes will help us further our goal of assisting individuals in maintaining lifelong sobriety.”

Long an advocate of pioneering new treatment options, Mountainside’s focus continues to be assisting as many individuals as possible in maintaining lifelong sobriety through its unique, individualized approach to drug rehab.

Affordable Drug Rehab Options For Those With No Insurance

There seems to be no end in sight for the slump in the US economy nor does any health care solution seem plausible in the immediate future.

So often, the health plans of individuals are such that Insurance policies will not cover comprehensive drug rehab for those affected by substance abuse and, unfortunately, those who need the care the most are unable to obtain it.

Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center foresaw this challenge back in the mid 1990’s and, in response to what they recognized as a growing need, established an affordable drug rehab care model. To date, their program has helped thousands to get on to the road to recovery and a life of sobriety.

“The founders of Mountainside anticipated many challenges within the health care field many years ago,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “When developing our program, we knew that affordability had to be one of the basic tenets of the individualized drug rehab program. So, while establishing a new standard of care through the use of various treatment modalities, Mountainside developed a program that wins widespread acclaim from treatment professionals and is affordable and within reach of the majority of individual’s budgets. Our program of individualized and affordable treatment has since become the standard of care for dug rehabs worldwide.”

It’s estimated that over 40 million individuals within the United States abuse alcohol and use illegal drugs annually, and less than 10% are able to receive the life-changing addiction treatment they need.

Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center has long been an advocate of alcohol and drug rehab that is individualized, affordable and under the direction of treatment professionals. The compassionate, caring treatment team at Mountainside is comprised of licensed and certified counselors and social workers as well as a Nurse Practitioner and a Registered Nurse, both of whom have specialization and extensive experience in drug addiction and alcohol treatment. For clients who may have psychiatric issues and/or a dual diagnosis, Mountainside provides the services of a Psychiatrist who also has specialization in addictions. Drug Facts Week Highlights Importance Of Community Based Drug Addiction Education

This week, the National Institute on Drug Abuse is sponsoring a “Drug Facts Week”. Targeted at teens and young adults, this week centers around debunking myths regarding drug abuse.

“When approaching such a sensitive subject as drug abuse and drug addiction prevention, we have to make sure that we open the lines of communication in a safe way,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “The best way to do this is in the broad sense, at the national level. This type of approach lets teens and young adults know, ‘If you have a question, we’re here and this is the place to get it answered’. One of the most important parts about a national event such as this is that it gets communities involved in affecting change. It helps everyone see just how widespread substance abuse is and fosters the formation of relationships within the community which can offer support for teens and young adults who may not have a mentor to whom they can look for guidance. Community based education also provides a sense of belonging and a sense of likeness to a group of people. And, research has shown that the incidence of substance abuse is less among those who feel they ‘fit’ and belong somewhere.”

Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center has long been an advocate of alcohol and drug abuse prevention through education, starting at the family and community level. Since its inception, Mountainside has been committed to creating ways that will help individuals to get and to remain sober.

Alcohol Rated As Most Deadly Drug, Legal Or Illegal

A recent study out of Great Britain suggests that alcohol is more deadly than crack cocaine and even heroin.

Scientists in Great Britain devised a system for evaluating the dangers of both legal and illegal drugs. The drugs were rated using a technique called Multicriteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) which assess damage according to nine factors with regard to harm to the user and seven factors that indicate harm to others. Factors which were considered for harm to the user were such things as drug-specific or drug related death, damage to personal health, drug dependence and loss of relationships. Criteria considered with regard to harm to others included crime, environmental damage, conflict within families, international damage, economic costs and damage relating to division within communities.

“I think that society, as a whole, doesn’t realize exactly how detrimental alcohol is,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “The attitude within the United States seems to be: ‘if you’re 21, the law says that you are old enough to drink, therefore there can’t be any real harm in drinking in moderation’. But, as this study shows, there are more factors to consider than just those related to personal health. Certainly, health is a major consideration, but personal, family and work relationships rank a close second. Educating young adults on the various ways that alcohol impacts on their lives and the lives of others can go a long way in decreasing alcohol abuse.”

Individualized Drug Rehab Key To Success

Ask anyone in drug rehab what their biggest fear is when they enter back into society and their answer almost always is: fear of relapse.

The cost of drug use is so high, affecting far more than a persons’ finances. Substance abusers know that each time a relapse occurs, they are risking their lives.

“Drug rehab facilities are a very safe environment for drug abusers,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “As a matter of fact, it’s the last safe place an individual will encounter after deciding to get clean and substance abusers know this. They

know that when they re-enter society, they are going to be required to make some serious changes within their lives to insure that they stay sober. That’s why it’s so important for those within the addiction treatment field to affect change at the most effective time: and, that is during a person’s stay in drug rehab. The best way to affect this change is to make certain that a treatment plan is created that is unique to each individual and his or her circumstances and which addresses his or her individualized needs. In order to do this, proper evaluation before and during in-patient treatment is crucial. At Mountainside, our intake interview is just the beginning of the process, yet it plays one of the most important roles in recovery. At that intake interview, we are able to assess an individual’s true treatment needs as well as their relapse risk factors and develop a treatment plan that will truly address those needs on a personal level. Our evidence based research has shown us that this individualized approach to treatment is far more successful than the one size fits everyone treatment.”

Many Drug Rehab Approaches, Holistic Drug Rehab Still Most Effective

The medical field is an ever-evolving field with new technologies and breakthroughs occurring at a rapid pace. Continual strides are being made within the addiction treatment field and time and again, research shows that holistic drug rehab is the most effective treatment for those suffering from various types of addiction.

One particular addiction treatment program has become the standard for drug rehabs worldwide. Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center began its quest for improved treatment methodologies over a decade ago. Since then, it has transformed the face of addiction treatment.

“From a purely logical standpoint holistic drug rehab makes the most sense,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside. “Up until our pioneering research, the alcohol and drug rehab treatment field was utilizing standard addiction treatment modalities. Our hypothesis was pretty simplistic: employ evidence based treatment modalities and provide a variety of different proven modalities to help a person get well. We looked around at different areas in medicine to see the methods that were currently working and then began drawing from those fields to create a program that addresses the complete needs of an individual from the physical issues, to the emotional, social and mental health issues that a person may have. Our success rates have been phenomenal. We have been refining our program to what it is today: our trademarked Integrated Care Model. Although just recently trademarked, our empirical evidence for this treatment model is an evolution of a body of work that spans over a decade. And, we will continually review and further refine our treatment program in the future to insure that we are providing the most optimum addiction treatment options for an individual.”

New Study Shows Cortisol Level A Possible Contributor To Alcohol Abuse

New discoveries are giving more hope for those battling addiction to alcohol. A recently published study indicates a correlation between alcohol abuse and the hormone cortisone.

A study published in England by the University of Liverpool indicates that alcoholics may have a higher incidence of elevated cortisol levels than levels present in the general population. Cortisol, a hormone released under stress, seems to not only affect alcoholics but has also been shown to be elevated in individuals suffering from any type of substance abuse addiction.

“Studies like this demonstrate that addiction isn’t just a social and emotional disease but a physiological one as well that requires the help of addiction treatment professionals,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “Within the treatment field, it is important to understand the epidemiology of addiction so that all aspects of the addiction are treated. If we focus only on the social and emotional aspects of addiction, the chances for recovery are diminished greatly. That’s why discoveries such as these are significant and are important to consider in the treatment of addiction to ensure long-term sobriety. Furthermore, studies such as this encourage more research in the hope of finding the right treatment modalities that can reverse the physiological aspects of addiction and bring so many more onto the road to recovery.”

Not only is cortisol a stress hormone, but it is also responsible for helping to metabolize food through a series of insulin releases. In addition, cortisol is closely connected to insulin resistance, another suspected factor in the list of physiological aspects of addiction.

Since its inception, Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center has been committed to creating ways that will help individuals get and remain sober.

The compassionate, caring treatment team at Mountainside is comprised of licensed and certified counselors and social workers as well as an on-staff Nurse Practitioner and a Registered Nurse, both of whom have specializations and extensive experience in drug addiction and alcohol treatment. For clients who may have psychiatric issues and/or a dual diagnosis, Mountainside provides the services of a Psychiatrist who also has specialization in addictions. As a result of their unique, innovative approaches to addiction treatment over the past 12 years, Mountainside has become the model for the addiction treatment field.

American Academy Of Pediatrics Want Limits Place On Alcohol Ads

In an effort to help curtail drug abuse and alcohol consumption among minors, the American Academy of Pediatrics is launching a campaign to change the way advertisements are allowed to be displayed and distributed.

“It’s clear that advertising is the most effective means of communicating a message,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. “And, the American Academy of Pediatrics is fighting fire with fire, which is exactly what is needed. When advertisers elevate alcohol or other substances not appropriate for minors to a level of glamour, or they imply that there is no fun without the use of such substances, it entices minors to try those products. We know that alcohol abuse is the number one substance abused and is one of the greatest problems in America which results in addiction treatment. Studies have shown that the younger a child is when they experiment with alcohol, the more likely they are to continue that experimentation into illegal, more lethal and highly addictive drugs. Alcohol is recognized to be one of the number one gateways to greater substance abuse. Enacting stricter regulations for advertisers could go a long way in changing the face of alcohol experimentation and abuse among minors.”

It is estimated that advertising may contribute up to 30% in the use of alcohol and tobacco and is especially effective on minors. A recently published study showed that mascots commonly used in alcohol ads were nearly 75% as readily identifiable as Bugs Bunny among fourth graders.

Among the hot points within their campaign, the American Academy of Pediatrics seeks to limit advertisement for alcohol when the audience is made up of more than 10% children. In addition, they are also requesting that the White House Office on Drug Control Policy conduct anti-teen drinking public service campaigns. They are also urging parents to become more involved in what media their children are exposed to and limit unsupervised media use.

New England Drug Rehab Offers Supports To Individuals Who Aren’t Previous Clients

History has shown that in times of economic crisis, individuals’ problems with drugs and alcohol skyrockets. As such, there is a growing need for therapeutic support of these individuals.

As economic times toughen, the response to stress for those at-risk tends to be the use of a substance that distorts their current reality. Relapses from past alcohol and/or drug abuse during these times are always at an all-time high compared to times of economic growth.

A New England addiction treatment facility has expanded its Drug Relapse Program to help individuals to maintain their sobriety during these difficult times.

“Our commitment has always been to help individuals live a sober-free life, regardless of what his or her previous addiction treatment associations are,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center in Canaan , Connecticut . “To that end, our Drug Relapse Program has expanded, offering treatment options for those who feel that they are at a risk of succumbing to the use of alcohol and/or drugs. We’ve found that during this time many recovering addicts and alcoholics need additional support and guidance to help solidify the core principles that they have utilized thus far in their journey to recovery. Our Drug Relapse Program participants range from those with 90 days of sobriety to upwards of 5 years of sobriety. The individuals who have longer times of sobriety are proof that addiction is, literally, achievable and is a lifelong struggle; it is one that we are committed to helping people achieve.”

Statistics show that 2/3 of all relapses for addiction are likely to occur within the first 90 days, without respect to the particular addiction. The first 90 days of sobriety are among the toughest as the physical withdrawals are still present and manifest themselves in poor memory and concentration or as an increased response to stress, all of which can cause a sudden relapse.

Over-The-Counter Cough Syrup Abuse On The Rise, Tighter Regulations Considered

Over the past six years, hospitals have seen a nearly fifty percent increase in cough syrup related visits. Dextromethorphan , a common ingredient found in over the counter cough syrups, is being held responsible for those visits.

As a result of the increased abuse, the FDA is considering legislation to regulate the access and distribution of such medicines containing Dextromethorphan, a step which is causing many leading drug manufacturers much angst.

“When we hear of statistics regarding abuse of easily accessible medications, we’re certainly concerned,” remarks a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “And the reason for our concern isn’t just because of the particular substance being abused. There’s a far greater concern for what the abuse of such a medication can lead to. For example, marijuana has always been considered a gateway drug; that is, a drug that opens the door to the use and abuse of more dangerous, illicit drugs. There is the fear that something as easily accessible as a cough syrup could lead to the same result: a move towards drugs that will produce a greater sense of euphoria and cause harm. Many times young adults will think that if this cough medicine makes them feel a little high, imagine what narcotics or heroin will make them feel like, and thus begins the cycle of abuse. Here we have a medication that most households all over America have in their medicine cabinets: a simple cough medicine. It’s disheartening that individuals can find ways to abuse even the most common substances and turn them into something dangerous and, potentially, life-threatening.”

President Barack Obama Declares September as National Alcohol And Addiction Recovery Month

On August 31, 2010, the addiction field got a shot in the arm from United States President Barack Obama when he declared September as National Alcohol and Addiction Recovery Month.

In his declaration, President Obama vowed to increase access to treatment and recovery programs in the US through the enacting of new health care laws that not only make addiction treatment programs accessible, but also affordable.

“When a public figure such as the President of the United States calls attention to the drug addiction problem facing not only the United States , but the world as well, there is renewed hope within the addiction treatment field,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. “Keeping America ‘s drug problem in the forefront of our minds is the only way that we are going to meet this challenge and combat the problem. Americans can’t become complacent and think that this problem doesn’t affect their lives, because it does – in ways that most just don’t realize. Complacency brings our guard down, makes us more vulnerable and, in turn, we don’t feel the urgency to broach tough subjects like drug abuse with our children. We must have those tough conversations if we wish to win the war on drugs.”

Recent studies have shown that teenagers whose parents talk to them on a regular basis about the dangers of drug use are 42 percent less likely to use drugs than those whose parents don’t.

The compassionate, caring treatment team at Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center is committed to helping families break the cycle of addiction through their various program offerings including the very important family wellness program. Mountainside will assist families with securing a professional intervention. Mountainside’s comprehensive team is comprised of licensed and certified counselors and social workers as well as an on-staff Nurse Practitioner and a Registered Nurse, both of whom have specializations and extensive experience in drug addiction and alcohol treatment. New Gateway To Illicit Drug Addiction

A recent study conducted by University of Buffalo physicians suggests that prescription pain killers are the new gateway drug to illicit drug addiction.

A study published by UB shows that 31 out of 75 patients hospitalized for narcotic detox first became addicted to drugs as a result of legitimately prescribed narcotics for pain. Another 24 individuals obtained their drugs via a friend’s left-over pills or from a family member’s medicine cabinet. The remaining 20 patients said they got hooked on street drugs.

A startling 92% of the patients within the study said they turned to buying heroin off of the street as it is less expensive and produces a stronger high than any prescription narcotics.

After their pain was resolved, however, most reported that they continued to use the prescribed drugs to help deal with the emotional stresses of day to day life and to feel better, in general.

“This is a disturbing trend,” remarks a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcoholism Treatment Center. “While effective for short-term pain management, prescription pain killers can be quite dangerous for some people. When these medications are prescribed it is best that patients be advised of the various ramifications that can occur and, if they begin to feel any dependence, they should tell their doctor. It can be very useful to bring in a pain management specialist for patients requiring longer term use. It’s troubling that a useful medication can cause such physical and psychological dependence, necessitating a program like our drug rehab New York program.”

Researchers found that about 51% of those who use illicit drugs first used narcotic pain killers for back pain, after surgery or an injury. The remaining 49% began using drugs simply because they were curious or a peer had narcotics readily available.

Prescription Drug Abuse Increases By 400%, Need For Drug Rehab Critical

A recently published report showing that the incidence of drug overdose related deaths has increased by 400% has further emphasized the need for more drug abuse prevention education programs.

Long thought to be a problem of young adults, statistics for prescription drug overdoses have shown that the group that has been most affected are those who range in age from 30-50 years old.

Shocked by such findings, drug rehabs nationwide are always seeking ways to increase substance abuse awareness with a key one being the promotion of an annual event, The National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month: http://www.recoverymonth.gov/.

Every year, RecoveryMonth.gov promotes September as “Recovery Month”. Their site stresses that they don’t limit themselves to drug abuse awareness in September solely, but they set aside September to draw attention to substance abuse as well as to recognize outstanding services provided by those within the addiction treatment field.

“When a group sets aside a specific time to focus on substance abuse and alcoholism prevention, it’s a good thing,” remarks a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “We all know that fighting the battle of addiction is an everyday, uphill battle and calling special attention to efforts that are being made within the addiction treatment field at a particular time each year may actually help push that one person over the edge to get the help he/she needs to live a life free of addiction. In addition, it spotlights those who have successfully recovered and shows others that it really can be done! Activities like this help remove the stigma associated with drug rehab and allow people to begin their journey to recovery supported by those around them.”

RecoveryMonth.gov along with alcoholism treatment centers such as Mountainside, aim to educate society on drug and alcohol abuse and call attention to this epidemic as a national health crisis. Additionally, the public is educated on the nature of addiction and is shown that recovery is, indeed, possible.

The compassionate, caring treatment team at Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center is comprised of licensed and certified counselors and social workers as well as an on-staff Nurse Practitioner and a Registered Nurse, both of whom have specializations and extensive experience in drug addiction and alcohol treatment. Data Shows Mid-Age Adults Overdosing At Greater Rates

David Mineta, Deputy Director of Demand Reduction for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, presented a keynote address in California recently, highlighting the widespread abuse of strong prescription narcotics such as OxyContin.

In the past 4 years, prescription drug deaths have risen by 60 percent and most of those deaths have been related to the abuse of Oxycodone which is viewed by abusers as a synthetic, yet more expensive, form of heroin.

It was previously thought that young people were the ones most affected by such abuse and death; however, statistics show that many more deaths are happening within the 30 to 50 year-old-age range.

“These statistics are revealing,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “In the past, young people have been thought of as the ones we should target to prevent substance abuse. It is encouraging in that it seems that drug prevention programs are working with our youth. Unfortunately, maybe not enough time has been spent on educating adults on the risks of addiction.”

One explanation for this overdose explosion among 30 to 50 year olds could be related to the health problems some begin experiencing at this age. Many of those included within these statistics had diagnoses such as PTSD, chronic pain syndrome, fibromyalgia and various mental disorders, specifically schizophrenia and manic depressive illness.

Recreational Prescription Painkiller Hospital Admissions Highest In Ten Years

A July 2010 study published by the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration has shown an increase in drug abuse admissions of four times the average of the past 10 years at hospitals nationwide, for recreational use of narcotic prescriptions.

The study shows that for those individuals age 12 and older, admissions involving abuse of narcotics rose over 400 percent between 1998 and 2008, across all segments of the population, without regard to gender, level of education, ethnicity or socio-economic status.

“One of the most striking points of this study is that the demographic for these admissions is so widespread,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “Previously, we have seen increases in a specific group, such as adolescents, and it’s a bit disconcerting to see such a significant increase over all groups. Something within society is changing and, most likely, these increases are related to the availability of these narcotics. Many states are recognizing this issue and are working with the medical field on how best to control this problem.”

These studies show that the need for effective drug rehab has never been greater. Statistics show that recreational use of prescription painkillers is the second most prevalent form of illicit drug use and are the sole source of the fastest growing drug problem within the US .

Mountainside’s original, unique approach to drug rehab began 12 years ago. Professionals in the drug treatment fields have recognized the effectiveness of Mountainside’s treatment modalities and how they are giving individuals an optimum chance for sustained recovery.

Tighter Narcotic Prescription Regulations Hope To Decrease Need For Drug Rehab

In a move to curtail prescription drug abuse, Washington State is considering legislation that would require physicians to refer chronic narcotic pain medication users to a physician who specializes in pain management.

The need for this legislation stems from the over-prescribing of narcotics and under-monitoring their effectiveness on patients with such ailments as chronic lower back pain or arthritis. Proponents of the legislation have noted that terminally ill or cancer patients would not be affected and physicians would be able to prescribe pain medications as needed for end-of-life comfort measures.

“Prescription drug abuse is growing at an unprecedented rate today,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “Not only is this creating an increased need for effective drug rehab, but it’s creating an epidemic of fatalities from drug overdose. It’s evident that there are some individuals who truly are dependent on narcotic pain medications to function in their daily lives; there are those who oppose legislation controlling the prescribing of pain medications because they fear that those in need would be denied those medications. That should not be the case – in fact, referral to a pain management specialist would actually give chronic pain sufferers a better quality of life as the source of their pain can better be addressed and monitored by a specialist. In addition, it’s highly likely that a more effective, long-term solution will be provided to those individuals.”

It’s estimated that in the past year, narcotic pain killers accounted for 7 percent of the total prescribed drugs, and the number of individuals taking them increased by over a third compared to previous years. Increased use of long-acting opioids such as OxyContin and methadone has contributed greatly to the epidemic of death by prescription overdose, second only to car accidents in nationwide fatalities.

Prescription Drug-Impaired Drivers Difficult To Identify, Prosecute

Lawmakers, prosecuting attorneys and law enforcement officials have all noted that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to not only prosecute individuals impaired by prescription drug use, but also difficult to identify such individuals.

Law enforcement officials, in particular, are taxed with the burden of discretion in judgment when approaching an individual who appears to be impaired in some fashion. When police officers suspect that an individual may be under the influence due to erratic behavior, the tough call is, ‘what substance has caused the impairment?’

In the case of alcohol or illegal drugs, such as cocaine and marijuana, it’s an easy call to make. The difficulty comes when a legally prescribed medication is causing the impairment.

“Drunken driving is easy to discern – officials have tests at their disposal which check for not only the use of alcohol but also the degree of alcohol within the bloodstream,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center in Canaan , CT. “The problem arises with medications that are prescribed for an individual which cause impairment; such medications include painkillers, muscle relaxers or anti-anxiety medications. Clearly, the proper use of prescribed medications isn’t illegal, but their effects can cause mental and cognitive impairments that can become detrimental while driving. The challenge is that there really is no effective way to measure what amounts, specifically, cause impairments, particularly with those who have been on those types of medications for an extended period of time. Individuals who have been on a prescribed medication for a long period of time tend to build up a tolerance, requiring a higher dosage to get the same therapeutic effect as someone who has just begun taking the particular medication.”

Changing The Face Of Drug Addiction Treatment

Not only is the pain and emotional burden of substance abuse difficult to bear, but the public stigma surrounding the drug culture creates a barrier to treatment for many drug users.

Substance abusers have, historically, have been viewed as lacking self-control, living on the streets, shooting up illicit drugs in some dark alley of a big city. What most people fail to realize is that seedy picture of drug abuse represents a small sector of substance abusers.

The face of drug use has changed, worldwide. What was originally seen as an act afflicting poverty-stricken neighborhoods, has turned into an epidemic spanning all socio-economic backgrounds. And, as such, the face of drug rehabs must evolve.

“It’s unfortunate that the addiction treatment field must market itself in the first place,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “What’s more disturbing is that the demographic that we are marketing to is becoming more widespread and affecting younger individuals more now, than ever before. One of the factors that contribute to an individual seeking help is the stigma attached to such treatment. At Mountainside, we try and remove the public stigma that’s attached to the addiction so that we can get to the core of the issue- helping the individual suffering from the addiction without attaching any labels to the person receiving treatment. This level of care and compassion is crucial for long-term recovery from drug addiction. The feedback that we have received from those who are intimately familiar with our program has been that we our program is extraordinarily caring, compassionate and understanding to those who are seeking drug addiction treatment. That’s always been our main focus- caring, compassionate treatment plans in a safe environment that is conducive to getting well and we have succeeded.”

New Hope With Drug Rehab In New England

There are an estimated 17.6 million alcohol addicted individuals in the US today, and that number continues to grow rapidly, affecting individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds. Treatment for alcoholism can be difficult simply because of the social acceptance of the use of alcohol. With proper alcoholism treatment, however, an individual can live a sober-free life.

Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center has been equipping individuals with the skills and confidence necessary to overcome various types of addictions for over ten years. With their innovative treatment program they have helped thousands of individuals reclaim their lives that were previously ensnared by addictions.

Alcohol addictions are very unique in nature simply because there’s no social implications or adverse reactions to utilizing alcohol on a recreational basis. As such, individuals struggling with alcohol addiction become quite adept at concealing their addiction from friends and family. That’s one reason that it’s imperative that families become active participants in the addicted individual’s recovery program. Our Family Wellness Program assists families in coping with their loved one’s addiction in a caring, considerate manner and being sensitive to everyone involved in the process. In addition, the location of our facility allows individuals and their families the privacy needed to begin their journey together towards recovery. Since our beginning our program offerings have been recognized by our peers within the addiction recovery treatment field as being innovative and first class, and our long-term sobriety success rates are second-to-none.”
